  • Graphics Card Question

I currently have a geforece 6800 256mb SLI card! For Christmas I got a Geforce 7900 256 SLI card! My question is if I SLI the two together how does the processing speed work? Will the cards only process at the lowest speed card or will it use the speed of the 7900 until the 6900 is needed?

You can't SLI them. In order to use SLI, you have to use cards with the same graphics processor. The 6800 Ultra runs on the NV40 chip, while the 7900s use G70/G71 chips.

You must have two of the same cards for SLi.

      exmaple: Two 7900 256mb.

Also, you'll need a bridge, most new cards come with one, I think. If not, you can get them on Newegg.com for a cheap price.

Running with two 7900GTX in SLi and they run great in CoD4. Am going to be looking at buying a 8800GTX soon though.

I just picked up the 8500GT Fatal1ty edition card for $99 at Best Buy. It was a upgrade from my onboard nVidia 6150 LE chip. For the price it is amazing. I'm playing with all settings up and it is flawless.
