Some kind of lighting problem

Whenever I or anyone else goes to shaded areas they turn almost completely black.


I think it shouldn't be like this, any ideas what is causing this.

My specs are:
CPU: C2D E6600 2.4Ghz
Ram: 2Gb
GPU: GeForce 7950 GT 512Mb
