Getting this tomorrow...

With it being Christmas Day tomorrow, ill be getting this game. Ive just read about all the perks and challenges and how you have to unlock those with XP or something like that ? I'm just asking what guns should I use just starting out in the game or should I just stick to the preset classes ?

I think most people here will tell you the M16 as although its a default starter gun, its still one of the best guns in the game.

Use the Assault kit when you start out. Then once you're at level 4 you'll have the freedom to create your own class, but somewhat limited.

For starters, the Assault Kit should be your long range class, while a custom class with an MP5 and the Stopping Power perk should do well for close range.

M16A4 is a great weapon in this game. As soon as I unlocked the M4, I used that almost exclusively until I unlocked the digital camoflauge. I find myself going through phases in this game where I prefer certain weapons, whereas normally I just choose assault class. I went from M16 to M4 to M60 to MP5 to G3, etc. Now I'm back on the M16 and I'm absolutely loving the 3 round burst! One click of the mouse and I get 3 hits, usually enough to get a kill. You really can't go wrong with the M16 to start out with, but honestly this game is so awesome I'm actually excited for you that you are getting it tomorrow! Happy gaming!

thanks, I think ill stick to the assault kit until I have unlocked some stuff, can you get XP from challenges ? Also how much XP do you get per kill and is there a list anywhere of how much I need for a certain rank and what rank unlocks what ?

Usually(in tdm?) it's 10 xp for kill and 2xp for assist...

well you get points from kills and accomplishing objectives, depends on what game mode you like the best. i suggest starting off on free for all just to get you used to the speed of the game and covering your back ect. demo mode is a big point maker. and TDM is a good mode to play (10 points a kill and plus assist points). but like in free for all, you get 5 points for a kill. then if you complete a challenge and you will see on the attached webpage link, you will get the XP points for that as well, added to your score in game. i'm attaching a link to give you a better understanding of the ranks, challenges, unlocks ect... hope it helps you. and see you on the battlefield

Also, in team deathmatch (which is what I play almost exclusively) you get 10XP per kill and 2XP per assist (which is I believe you injure an opponent and he's killed by somebody else). Yes you do get XP for challenges, off the top of my head I got I believe 250XP for completing the "Goodbye" challenge, which is falling 30 feet or more to your death (fall into one of the silos in the Countdown map to complete this--but remember you have to unlock the challenge first to complete it). You'll get XP for stuff like killing enemies with a claymore, killing guys with knife, killing while prone, shooting down a helicopter, etc. Some are for 250, some are for 100, I don't know off the top of my head if there are any challenges that reward more than 250...

demolition? I think you have a bomb (suitcase) and you have to plant/guard it at one of two locations, like counter strike...

basicly you have one suitcase (the bomb) and 3 objectives to pick from to destry i.e. planting the bomb by pressing your use key. then guard the site OR eliminate the other team outright. i know you get 100 points for arming the bomb and 350 or 300 for the defusal. love the avatar by the way, dwight for prez!! and i love beets :) :salute:

Dwight Schrute is awesome! I'm so mad about the writer's strike. Hopefully it will be resolved by the time I get back from Iraq around May.
