Unable to change screen resolution

When i try to change the screen resolution the game crashes...

then it says that DirectX got an fatal error...
i've tryed to update directX but i still got this issue...anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Exit out of X-Fire, start CoD4, then change your settings.

XFire put out an update/patch that (should have) fixed that problem a couple of weeks ago. Next time you start XFire, do a manual check for updates. The game stopped crashing for me once that update was applied.

Yea, Xfire patched that. Strange how you still had the problem. But its fixed now, so good luck!
