yep everything is the same as mine yet he cant hear us

Use something like Skype that has a Talk Back test.
That allows him to verify that the hardware is working.

Verify that these ports are open in his router/firewall:
TCP Ports
4711, 27901, 28910, 29900, 299
UDP Ports
1500-4999, 16567, 27900, 29900

If possible enable uPnP on his router.
