So, tell us what you really think... how would it be fun to simply stand in one place and kill everyone on the map. I've played single player games in "god mode" before and it becomes boring quickly.

Identify much with cheats and losers? If so, then hacking is your answer because you can be a winner by proving how much of a loser you are.

There will always be hax. Just be observant, notify an admin and leave as soon as you can. Don't participate in their reindeer games.

this is why i think PB is a waste because what you have said is completely correct, there will always be hacks, and the only real way they are caught is by the server admins.

PB bans are only usually given because the admins get the SS's and send them off, whats the point, PB basically hits a big red button saying Ban player X.

Hackers caught by admins to hackers caught directly by PB has to be 100-1.

Looking at pbbans.com, punkbuster does catch a lot before any screenshot does.

Its not perfect, but nothing is, unfortunatly.

PB, and other anti-cheat apps, do a lot to prevent the n00b hackers who grab freebie cheats by using Google and such. Without it, we'd be absolutely over-run by cheaters on the majority of servers, just because it would be so easy to get them.

The more complex hax, such as the ones you have to pay for, are harder to deal with, and often change with time. The only way to combat those, is to stay on it. But the "police" are always 1 step behind the "crooks" in this case.

In that, there are alot who cant compete and do cheat. I am hoping PB does something, anything,as it is I would say it has a very high failure rate.

Is it up to the community to have a thread of shame to let others know who is out there and what they are doing?

I know i can google up about 6-12 sites that provide hacks, even more videos of people hacking....Do I need to send PB a google tool bar?

I am getting tired of 2-4 people ruining the fun for everyone on a server. I am even more tired of logging off a server to go look for a legit game.

I dont think this is what i spent my money on.
I agree to some point mate but you have to remember that all MP games have the same problems.

              QFE

PB cannot and will never stop all hacking. It stops and deters the casual script kiddie who downloads his hax off bittorrent. Someone who writes his own hack and doesn't distribute it will never be caught. It's just something we will have to live with. That being said, the probability that someone is hacking is often inversely proportional to the probability that he is actually hacking, multiplied by your anger at being killed by him.

Pbbans has 45,302 bans in their MBI. That's the result of PunkBuster catching cheats and screenshots taken by PB. http://www.pbbans.com/mbi.php

Punksbusted has 73,786 bans in their MBI. http://www.punksbusted.com/

Some bans are in both MBI's but that's still an impressive number. PB's doing it's job but they can't detect a cheat that hasn't been made yet or is new until they find out about it.

Did 'ya ever notice.......(in my best Art Rooney voice).....these hackers and cheats don't seem to want to WIN, but just mess the whole thing up for other players?
There's no real point to what they are doing. Here we are trying to make sense out of their silliness, and it just gets more confusing.
I kinda feel sorry for them, in a way. They couldn't have many firends. And the friends they do have are just cheats like themselves. Too bad.

Actually, I had a good friend who began to hack in CS:S.

He loved the game, and was a great player for a while. However, things just lost their amusement level, and so he picked up hacking (he only walled though).

I don't think the majority of hackers are out there to ruin the game, they just don't like how the game is played - if that makes any sense to you guys.

*This was not a hypothetical friend, he's real and NOT me lol

I have one thing to say to your friend "CAN'T HAVE FUN ANYMORE? DONT PLAY! BUT PLEASE DON'T RUIN IT FOR OTHERS."

As of cheaters. You will never be free of them. Only thing you can do is gather up friends you trust and head over to a private passworded server, along with voip. Nothing beats that :)

but tbh, most of those bans were given back when games were not as sophisticated as there are now, the bans have dramatically dropped as the games get better and the cheats get better.

Eventually PB will lose all pace on the hackers.

                          This thread reminds me,

We were OpFor, on Crossfire playing S&D HC, this last guy, going by the name of "WHIRLWIND" obviously was using a demigod-esque hack, i hit him with three M14 shots, one in the head too, didnt die...spun around, instant head-shot with the M16. Soon after, spectating my team, the whirlwind guy killed two who rushed in, with one guy left, who emptied a whole magazine of Mini-Uzi in to him, led him through a chase through the left side of buildings (next to that bus) and with luck, round ended just in time. We were all wtf'ing next map.

I seriously didn't think that you would hack in CoD4. I was playing on a public server too though...but meh, never saw the guy again.

Never played on a CoD2 server where the admin's friend is invulnerable to bullets and floating up in the sky sniping down at people below?

                              Lucky you.
