Its a mixture of both. Because of really different and specific systems of damage (material, distance, weapons class, silencer effects), they probably got bit in the as5 quite a bit before they came up with a simple solution of negating the effects of 2 binded perks. Negative neutralises positive, if you will. Really nothing wrong with the system.

For what its worth, its cool that this isnt an RPG type of system. When we look at the standard RPGs, the perks go from "weak" to "powerful". In COD4, almost every last one of them is useful. Which is awesome, as it doesnt create a situation where everyone is running with the same perks.

"You win some, but you lose some". I love this perk system, its absolutely magnificent, and well balanced out too.

I hope that design doesn't come back to bite them in the behind when they need to add or modify stuff, because hard coding is the way of the devil.
Im like you, I prepare for the worst, however IW isnt DICE, COD4 multiplayer is by far the best pulled out one in years. One has to admit, those folks did their balance work damn well.

Interesting weapon facts, I do however miss the deviation figures.

Me too. Not only deviation figures, but recoil figures aswell. I guess its something one would gather up with testing, unless someone can find the appropriate files.

From some reading, Ive gathered that if you pull the iron sights up, the rounds go "almost" dead on.

On TBF2142 I saw somebody posting youtube movies in which he shot at walls with various weapons (standing, prone, crouch) showing the difference in recoil and bullit spread.

The table you posted seems to indicate that all of the sniper rifles are identical, other than the semi-auto vs. bolt action thing. Is this true?

Theres a mixup between Dragunov and M40 in torso shots damage. The main difference, except for being bolt/semi action, is that bolt action rifles have a 1.5X damage modifier to the chest, which semi-automatic rifles do not have.

Meaning, if there are no damage perks, the semi auto hits your chest with a 77 hitpoint damage, while a bolt action rifle hits you with a 70X1.5=105 and is an instakill weapon.

Thats interesting... Nice to know that there IS a reason to use the bolt action over the semi-autos.

im new to the game and only level 17 but i can say from my total sniping experience that is true.

i usually use the bolt action,as its instant death to the chest, and when using semi with no extra power perk,it takes 2.

must say that im impressed with the game alot, nice fast pace loads of non-stop action witch i like.

How about the different stances, do they have any effect on recoil and other numbers, or do they just make you a smaller target?

I come from BF where stances are very important, but in COD4 I have no problems hitting while standing.

Likewise with the different sights, is there any "bonus" for using an AGOG instead of an reflex sight, or it it just the increased zoom? It feels like it takes more time to bring up the AGOG, but that may just be my imagination.

Theres a definite improvement for hip accuracy when it comes to stances. But when were talking about zoomed accuracy, it doesnt matter (that much? Im not entirely sure).

This site can help you with hip accuracy changes in stances. The definite weapons information sheet.
