coclusion bf2 dosnt work with vista,.
everone has to hope and pray that vista sp1 will make older games more compatible.

know problems with bf2 and vista (has nothing to do with hardware)

mouse bugs
bullet lag
stutter
full fps low ping and lag??
zoom in once and it zooms and unzooms. (1 click)

Nah you can play it on vista but there is just a few bugs that have 2 be "killled" 2 allow it to function as well as XP

Nah they are just hiding under the washing machine(Microsoft cant figger it out) and all we have 2 do w8 for them 2 come out then we can kill them (As said above w8 for SP1)

Many many problems with the 8800gtx and vista, there are some fixes out there for your graphics card, search for '8800 vista patch', something like that and you should be on the right path. Make sure your bf2.exe is in xp compatibility mode as well.

Don't have any of those running BF2 on Vista 64 other than the zoom one, and that is a GAME bug, not because of Vista.

Think you will find that most of those that are having problems it comes down to one thing, PEBKAC.

Or you could work on the system issues you are obviously having. There are loads of people here using Vista x32 and x64 without ANY problems, myself included. Vista is not the problem. Its either that the hardware is setup poorly or a there is a BF2 glitch on your end.

EDIT: I am using:
1. Personally-built desktop running Vista x64 Ultimate
2. Lenovo Thinkpad T60 running Vista x32 Business

They both work perfectly.

My problem with vista (64) is this:
Whatever setting for AA and AF i choose for my ATI card (3870), it definitely doesn't show up in game. I mean the textures lines are definitely not Antialiased.
Tried
7.11 and 7.12 Catalyst drivers. Settings made through the video.con file as usual.

Same configuration, same drivers, same all.....produce as expected on XP.

Your rig is basically the same as mine except I've got a P35 motherboard and only 2 gigs of pc6400. I was thinking of upgrading to Vista + another 2 gigs - but I don't think I will now!
