    good mods for Lan-Parties?

I am looking for mods that could help spirit up LAN Parties. My friends and me (16-32 players) get together once a month to play, and we've been playing dear old BF2 a good lot lately. [Since we are stuck with "old" hardware, we can't get new games, so BF2 mods will have to do.] Now, i think it's time to spice things up with some mod action.

    What i'm looking for:
    1. Mods that play well on a LAN, (including mods that play well for coop gaming sessions).
    2. Ease of installation is a plus, since updating 32 PCs is not all that fun.
    3. Map packs that install a bunch of maps at once are also preferred for the same reason.
    4. Tough learning curves are a turnoff.

Right now, i am thinking of:
    • Project Reality (how bad is the learning curve?)
    • Mercenaries (should definitely spice things up and should be good for coop gaming)
    • Forgotten Hope 2 (just because i miss good old BF1942):salute:

Which other good mods should i consider/absolutely look at?

How is Allied Intent? What about Hard Justice? Is there a Pirates mod for bf2? any good?

    Thanks for answering this thread!

AIX if you want to play against bots, but even against humans it's still fun.

Project Reality has a big learning curve imo.

AIX sounds fun... any link to a recent review of the mod? Does it work for a coop game with 16 or more players? (this was possible in Joint Operations, but i never dreamed it would be done in BF2)

if u read the manual for PR, u should be fine. id love to play PR in a LAN with friends. makes it easier to communicate = even more teamwork

tho if ur on "old" hardware...PR does stretch the BF2 engine to its limit.

              hello :)
although I'm biased, I too would recommend AIX
we developed the mod with SP & Coop as our focus so it should be perfect for your LAN.

and yes you can increase the bot number but bear in mind the more bots you run the more processing power your host machine will require.
(I generally play with 80 bots no probs on my amd 4400 w/2gb ram (just as a benchmark))

                    Point of Existence 2

                    Website: http://www.pointofexistence.com/
                    Online Manual: http://www.pointofexistence.com/fpn/html/

Coming from vanilla the learning curve will not be that high. COOP is supported and the mod is packed with almost 30 maps to keep you busy. Load up some 32 maps or 64 coop maps and you should have tons of fun with your lan buddies.
