kind of a noob question

Hey guys im having a little trouble, but i just bought my friend COD 4 and he said it cant work on his machine cuz he doesnt have a dvd drive, so i just wanna know is there a cd version cuz i have to return it to target to get him that, and ij ust wanna know if there is one before i go waste my time trying to find out that there isnt one thanks!

There isn't a CD version.

Your friend is better off buying a DVD drive and putting it in his machine. If there was a CD version, it would have way too many CDs.

Your other option is to return the DVD version, and your friend can purchase/download an electronic version from a company like Direct2Drive or through Steam. The big downside with e-versions is that whenever a patch comes out for the disc version, you have to wait for the company that sold it to you to modify that patch for your e-version. If you go this route, Steam may be a better choice, as they automatically push updates/patches through when they are available.

That being said, there really is no excuse NOT to have a DVD drive these days. :) They're pretty inexpensive, and more and more games these days are coming out on DVD instead of CD's.
