    Call of Duty 4 error

When I start call of duty 4 I get this. Error during initialization:
    Create2DTexture( $floatz, 640, 480, 0, 114 ) failed: 8876086c = Invalid call.
just wondering if its my graphics card or what.

P.S graphics card is a Nvidia geforce 6600 GT with the 163.75 video driver.

    Error

I'm getting the same error. Any help would be appreciated:

    Create2DTexture( line_horizontal, 64, 2, 0, 51 ) failed: 8876086c = Invalid call

Bump...I just recently started getting this error too, on a 9800 GT. Quite odd....it was working perfectly fine and one day I just started getting this error. All drivers are updated....

          Hmm strange...

I'm not sure if the 6600 GT works with CoD4, although I just checked the back of the box and it lists the 6600 as being compatible (so I assume the GT should be better then that card?)

I've no idea why it would start happening to a 9800 GT though... maybe a Vista/XP patch is conflicting with something in the drivers which causes this error?

Have you tried reinstalling? or even changing the graphics driver to a different one?

First off, let me thank you for actually trying to help

Its weird, it was working until one day about a week ago now, it just decided to start giving me these 2dtexture errors....it may have possibly been something to do with a windows update, but I doubt it (or else everybody else would be having the issue).

How do I go about changing the driver to a different one? I thought I could only use Nvidia drivers...

Well I mean like a different version, e.g. roll back or update the drivers... I know there is a few places where you can get 'older drivers' and download them, I just don't know the url...

Well, I hadn't updated my drivers or anything though, so I don't think thats the problem. It just randomly started happening one day

Something must have changed though... things don't just stop working like that :p

Maybe Anti-Virus blocking a dll file which loads up the 2d shaders/initializes them or something?

Just try a graphics update since textures are related to graphics...

What are your specs anyway? Vista and XP have had updates in the past few weeks...

                    I found this:
The AMD Community is entering an exciting new phase—growing into a broader ecosystem of dedicated resources designed to better support and connect you.

Also seen some posts say its a DirectX issue. May want to reinstall that if the above does not apply.

Like DaN mentioned, you should post your specs.
