ak101 is good but not as accurate as the g36 family. IMO G3, G36C and L96 are the finest weapons in the game. However since engy is my favorite kit, I've spend the most time with MP7 and jackhammer though.

for raping an entire squad up close with surprising ease RPK74
for attacking the hotel on karkand from US right uncap M 1187
for leading your squad picking off troops from 15 meters behind L85a1
for the grenade launcher + cleaning up the wounded enemies M16
for winning all extremely close one on ones Ak47/101
for frustrating snipers that call you a hacker PKM
for dying during every firefight MP7
10X better than anything could be for AT DAO12
for running out of ammo and dying when you could have used stock G3

you see every gun is extremely useful in various situations, if you find yourself using the same weapon and or kit over and over again under very different situations, well... you probably suck at BF2.

oh and grenades are FAIL. people that continually throw grenades generally have little in the way of reflexes and rely on being clear from danger to get their kills. anyone skilled i see in a server never throws nades unless there is a reason, not just continuous spam. the poor folks that you come up head on against and they start chucking grenades like crazy while running from you i really feel sorry for them, and perhaps FPS games aren't for them
