Update Fails.

I haven't been playing since 1.25 so I uninstalled it from my computer. Recently my friend got the game and had no problems w/ 1.40 except an easy fix from punkbuster problems. So I want to play too, so I downloaded it from EA Download Manager along with the 282MB patch, northern strike and another 1.40 patch with the tampa bay map. I installed the game with no problem. I try to apply any of the 1.40 patches and I get Update Failed. (NS requires 1.20+)
I reinstall, same thing. Redownloaded everything, same thing.

tried installing from 1.20 to 1.25 to ns to 1.25 or 1.20 ns 1.25 1.40?
