I was checking some stuff out and what should I set sv_maxrate = xxxxx to? It is default 5000. right now I have it at sv_maxrate = 25000, but some people say 0 is best? any input on this?

and any other cmds that i can put in to lower my ping?

I thought sv_maxrate was for server side!

It is server side. Servers running on dedicated machines in data centers should set that value to either 0 or 25000 because they're both equivalent.

If the server is running on a broadband connection (ie. your home) then the value should be somewhere inbetween those two numbers.

As for client-side settings, I would be surprised if it made any difference.

so what if it is a hosted server.. not running on my PC.. it should be 0 or 2500 right? and that will help lag?

0 or 25000, not 2500. But yea, if it's hosted it should be either one of those values. I'm not sure how much difference it'll make, but that's the way to go.
