New the forums and sticking my head in. Picked up a 40 man server (needed a new hobby) and was looking to see what maps, settings, ect. are popular now a days? Thanks for the insight and take care!

You mean you've purchased a server? Or just joined one?
Anyway, maps you'll want to avoid like the plague are Dragon Valley, FuShe Pass, Sohngua Stalemate, Zatar Wetlands and Daqing Oilfields. Of course I fully expect people to disagree with this - "omfg I <3 dragon valley!" - but it's certainly true for the vast majority of BF2 players.
It's up to you really, 24/7 I/O Karkand is easily the most popular setting in the game but get's pretty repetitive. -
those maps are not popular but its sometimes nice to have a change.
if ur just aiming for popularity...ull want wake island and infantry only karkand. those are like the most popular maps in BF2Comment

The bad thing about having it on is you get loads of trouble from teamkills.
The bad thing about having it of is people can put 5 c4's under their feet and get to normally impossible to reach places.Comment
