    Sniperrifle Bi-Pod Unlock

The below (Final) Sniper Rifle rant gave me an idea. Why not have a Bi-Pod unlock, like the Fore-Grip unlock for the LMG, except with no sway in the prone position perk instead of improved acu. This would rock, it would do the same as the grip or the m203 and restrict your to 2 perks instead of 3. That or a Mono-Pod for crouched (but I think that idea would be considered broken before it would ever see the light of day...or that fact that the Mono-Pod hasn't seen the light of since WWII I believe). I personally love mono-pods, great fun, draw back for in game, no run and gunning since you need to carry the mono-pod in one hand while moving (not attached, its like long stick like a Y shape) or am I thinking to 18th century?

Ya thats a great Idea lets have an 18th century device try and hold up a semi auto Barrett 50. cal. But the bi pod idea is still a good one.

It would be nice, but once you learn to control your breathing, it wouldn't be much of a help (In my opinion). Still, a nice idea.

Would be a nice add, but I still want my silencer! lol

I want them to improve the hit detection associated with alot of the rifles.

They are. Look at the news on the front page. I also made a topic about it earlier.

Anyone seen the Bourne Ultimatum? The sniper who takes out the journalist in Waterloo station was using a mono-pod to get a stable standing shot..... yea, i watched it yesterday!

Despite what i just said, i don't think a mono pod would work in game...... a bipod however might be cool. But remember even whilst using a bipod the sights move slowly up and down with your breathing.

                    ^^ Awesome film.

A mono-pod would be refreshing and different, but hard to put in game i guess.

What would the gameplay differences be between the bi- and monopod? In other words, how are you going to translate the differences between the two into a game?

Well the monopod we were talking about was one to use while standing, and would need to be unpacked/assembled. The bipod would be for use during prone and is on the bottom of the rifle.

I agree the mono in a game wouldn't be as useful, but its a cool idea.

Not necessarily assembled, but rather carried in the off hand (maybe attached like a skiing pool at the wrist and as I said, long "Y" shaped stick) and would allow for a steady shoot while standing and aiming down the sights. I guess most of you here are leaning toward the long version, I was suggesting the shorter version. Its a lot less in the way, still would sway while standing and could only be used while crouching.

PS I mostly added mono pods in for fun, but there are modern version.

The concept of the wheel is much older, yet we use them in our cars every day.

I'd love to see more sniper unlocks, but it's kinda hard to do, since it's not like getting a bi-pod makes you use iron-sights, the scope is iron sights. It'd have to really slow your down or something to balance it, since the simple "get this and you lose this" attachment system wont work for it.

They could "borrow" idea from Americas Army...

In that, when you use the bipod, you can't strafe on the ground at all. U have to "un-deploy" it(didn't know better word for it:p) to move...

That could work with this game too...
