  • Pls.... help!! Looking for a more stable driver for the XFX 7600GT 256 AGP....

    playing BF2.Using 163.75 and when playing tonight.Sound card XFI - ultra.Tried settings:

1024x768x85,med settings - sound stutter and jerky video.
    1024x768x60 " " - same
1024x768x85,low settings - no sound stutter, smother video, but game froze.

Would it be the card or the drivers?

I had ATI x1300 Pro and was flawless with 1024x768x60 med settings.
This card has to be better then that ATI...I'm hoping!!

The texture filtering under the control panel is set to quality, should it be set to high performance?Evrything is set pretty much to default under 3D settings

    Everythings patched.

    Suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

is that the absolute newest one? go to www.nvidia.com and find the drivers. it does it automatically

first, what are the rest of your specs. the game also depends pretty heavily on how much ram you have.

second, make sure u properly uninstalled the x1300 when u put in ur 7600GT. ie. run drivercleaner after each uninstallation

third, from the Xtreme-G website, they recommend

      XTreme-G 169.04 XP 32bit

look for it on their site http://www.tweakforce.com

          i just gave my 7600gt away to my bro,i have a 2900xt now..anyway

when i was using it i found the best driver was 93.71 this driver was stable in bf2

all settings high except dynamic shadows and light(kills the card)

          hope this helps

These are my specs in signature.I'm not sure how to use driver cleaner pro.If i check all the ATI and Geforce filters and clean all at once in save mode, then reinstall older dreivers is that okay? But I still don't understand what cab files are,and if they shoul be cleaned.

yeah thats the right way to use driver cleaner. its also better to use it in safe mode (hit F8 while rebootin)

I want uninstall my old Geforce drivers and ATI.Is it a good idea to remove them first from add and remove programs then both drivers at once with the filters in DC in safe mode?I don't quite know what the cab cleaner does,it doesn't give you much information.

I just want to clean everything and install different geforce drivers.

Any ideas or sugessstions would be appreciated.

                    Thanks

well i dont use cab cleaner. i just use drivercleaner which should be sufficient.

so yeah just uninstall the graphics stuff from your add/remove programs, and hten reboot into safemode and use driver cleaner on the filters. then reboot again into normal windows and install new drivers
