    Questionnaire

Hi im am developing a FPS environment on my college course and would find it helpful if you guys could give me some feedback on what sort of environments you would like to see developed in a game. For example you might prefer urban environements to more open maps etc. If you ever wanted a certain environment made into a map please suggest it all ideas are welcome

If i use any of the ideas i will be sure to post screenshots of the work in progress to get feedback until its complete

    Thanks guys

It would be very interesting to have real places mapped into games, like say Boston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, or New York City. Those are just some wide ranging examples, it could be any familiar place. How about Venice? or Paris?
I seriously doubt Washington DC would be appropriate, however.
good luck with your project.

i agree, you almost never see big city areas with actual accessible buildings and stuff so make sure you can make everything as interactive as possible

I reckon that a game should be made where it sort of looks at a virtual map of the world like google map does, and you can pick where you play, but it would take a long time to make it perfectly lol :)

Imagine this - you could be standing in your own house snipering and throwing grenades!

Oh yes, and i think urban maps with not alot of fog are good, and maps that have good geography too, like with hills and valleyside control points - lots of shrubbery and grass.
Destructible environment also looks really good too.

I like the suburban feel of Sharqi. Plenty of buildings, some open space, scenery, water. I agree with a poster above: All buildings should be accessible.

make sure its playable first. the reason why games dont have maps whre all the buildings are accessible is becuz that would take up too much memory = lag.

Some good replys i cant obviously have every building accesible because memory like ConscriptVirus said but i can have a few main building open for snipers etc. I was thinking of making a map with a layout like mashtur city with a heli base and a market place but maybe include a similar stronghold from Warlord and also add some close quarters parts like karkand what would you think to that?

Would any of you be willing to post feedback if i uploaded some screenshots of the draft maps soon?

                    Thanks

yes, not all of the buildings, but the main ones would be good with a few simple floors etc.

Open environments are my favorites. Preferably with vehicles of some kind so transportation doesn't become an issue.

Underground train network would be quite good.
