I need 1 sec of your time please (HELP)

    Right to the point...

In every game I own I get these little 1-2 second LAG SPIKES. Like I can't move, or shoot. Just a quick freeze, and then right back to normal. This mostly happens at the wrong times with my luck (flying in BF2, or Gun battle in COd4). It's not GFX or CPU lag or RAM. But I can't really say.. Some say it might be my ISP? But How do I know for sure? Is there a way I can check? Program maybe?

Please, Help me here.. Im desperate. Every game, every day.

    Thanks

    My SPECS:

    Intel Quad Core Q6600
    2GB RAM
    8800GTX

    COX ISP Provider.

Does it happen on SP too? That might be a clue. Could try to kill your connection and play SP for awhile to see.

Might also be PB doing its checks? BF2 had a command "pb_sleep ____" to set it to a longer time between checks...not sure if COD4 has that, or if you can change it in the PB options.

I will try this when I get home and have access to CoD4.

Try manually updating PB. That will happen if the game is trying to autoupdate and it's having problems.

Ive been having the same things, and sometimes my pc will just totaly lock up and hang. Ive got a new machine, same cpu and gpu as you and everything seems to be running ok. Persoanlly im blaming it on vista, it doesnt happen all the time so for now i can put up with it, but if it gets any worse i'll look into it more.

Gosh I would, but I don't want to screw my game or PB files. Since i'm in CEVO and theres a match tonight.

            But I'l try it.

Does it happen randomly or with airstrikes? The time I would get lag for the few seconds was when airstrikes or intense battles were happening, found out it was EZTrust's Real-Time that I had to turn off and fixed that problem.

Nah, it's not Airstrikes. It's all the time.

Is your internet hardwired? i only ask because i had this problem on BF2 which turned out to be my wireless connection.

My friend has this problem on COD4 and that ended up being his wireless connection as well.

Are you playing the same server? Our server was having a problem writing PB screenshots and was causing lag spikes.

Also, have you checked your memory? If one of your DIMMs went bad, you could be experiencing your rig writing to the swap file... kinda far fetched, but still possible.

Might want to explain how, for others who may be having this problem.
