multiplayer lockup

Hello. About 10 mintures after in an mp game, it completley locks up my system, and I need to reboot. This does not happen in sp. Any suggestions?

Few things you can try:

1) update your video card drivers (always a good idea)

2) be sure your PC is well ventilated so the vid card isn't overheating

3) do a manual update on PunkBuster @: http://www.evenbalance.com

4) be 100% sure that it's not on a certain map

If none of these help, it's quite possible that the card is defective...I had one yrs back that did the same thing...I could only play for 10-15 mins and it locked up my system. I had it replaced, and all was well after that.

I have the newest drivers for everything.

It started doing it in single player now for this game and crysis. So it snot PB

I tried doing a 3d mark test on the card, and it crashed and rebooted. Is this a sign of a defective card? Are there any tests I can do, like memtest, that would determine if a card is faulty?

You might want to take it into your local computer shop to be sure and get a proper diagnosis, but it does sound like something is going on that card.

Thank you for the help. I ran 3dmark06 3 times. The first time is crashed and rebooter, the second time it worked with a score of 1419, and the third time is crashed, but did not reboot. I just installed a tr2-500watt power supply, so power should not be the problem. What concerns me is that fact that the test DID work 1/3. Any thoughts? Should I RMA?

I just installed the drivers that came with the card, and 3D mark just finished a test with a better score then before. Go figure.......
