Today my ping has just shot up!?

Did anyone else get this, because i started to play bf2 today and my ping was around 500-1000ms, i don't know why, but my usual ping is around 20-50ms.
I hadn't changed anything either...

Any chance you were playing in an american server? or any other server outside of your country? This happens alot.

no, not at all, i ran it the same way i usually do, no background applications etc, and i do usually play on servers all around the world without that high a ping, as i said, i usually get around 20-50ms, maybe at the farthest server 160ms maximum.

I just had a quick go on SP today, but noticed that 3 of my favorite servers had pings of 3000+

Probably just a blip at "their" end.

yeah, it's just my ping has never gone up that high before.

My ping was in the 300's all day yesterday, fixed all by itself today, and somedays BF2 wont even show me servers even though I can go on sites etc.

Damnit EA, we need a patch to un nerf alot of weapons and fix the damn server crashes and new maps

yes, i think its something to do with the new punkbuster version, it seems to make servers crash more than often now. Well at least i think that has something to do with it.

Had this a while ago, any server would be 200+ ping for me, i called my isp and they just said there was extreme traffic but they are sorting it out, took 2 days or so to go back to normal. You might wanter to consider a new ISP.

Every couple of days i get ping spikes at odd times sometimes is jumps to 400 for a couple of seconds then drops back to 30ish. I've also noticed some days when arty strikes it jumps to around 600 for the duration of the strike... Odd
