    Why?

Why no matter what card you have does COD4 only run @ low/normal settings and theres no settings like high/max...it makes no sense to me why that is?

BFG 8800GT OC2, I have seen on alot of forums with ppl with 8800s have the same issue where hte "model details like water and such only go to normal and nothing else. Is the high settings like a Vista limited feature "its not DX10 though" Or what could be wrong?

Make sure your drivers are fine, I ain't any expert with nVidia cards, so make sure the software is fine, because the game might not be recognising your hardware, as it restricts the settings according to card and RAM.

Mine will not show beyond medium for any setting due to my low end card.

I have the beta 169.09 "I think" for it. And they werk just fine. I have 2GB of DDR436 RAM and my GPU has 512MB of GDDR3 memory. And I cant seem to set model details to anything but normal it was the same with the dual 7900S I had previously. So im guessing either the game is maxed @ normal and cant go higher or the high features are only acessable on Vista systems?

ur looking under the wrong option, go to "textures" instead, and change "auto" to "manual" then set how u like, low, normal, high or extra

That doesnt help @ all Gross lol, so the stuff liek model/dynamic lighting and water textures all only go to normal? But in the other texture settings where you can go low/med/high/extra? Is extra higher than high im guessing? I still wonder why those model details only go to like normal.

Well I have an nvidia 7900 and I can run my game with all settings on "Extra," above High. And I have shadows and all that good stuff running. So, I think it's you not your computer.

Huh lol? I can max out all the other settings to "Extra" but the 3 main things on the main graphics menu "Model detail/dynamic lighting/water detail" only go to off/low/normal only and I heard from alot of other forums ppl with high end cards only being able to set it to medium also so I think its just how the game is.

                      *Bump*

Does anyone know why :-\ lol.

the options in the graphics tabs only go to normal, if n e 1 tells you they have it higher they r having u on.

                        i have

intel quad 2 core cpu (totaling 9ghz)
                        3gig of ram
8600 (not the best, but one of the high ones)
                        running vista

So i think if they could go higher than norm, i would expect that i would at the very least be able to set mine to high....but it aint there for no one i know.

                        IT ONLY GOES TO NORMAL
