The title says it all. When I start playing the game just randomly mimizes to my desktop then I have to maximize it to get back in the game. It never crashes just minimizes to desktop at the most inconvenient moments sometimes. Anyone know whats wrong?

Couple things it could be...
Most possible is that your fingers are hitting the Windows key on your keyboard, or you're alt+tabbing, or some other key combination accidentally.
Could be that another program/process that you have running, either actively or in the background that's causing it. Be sure to turn off any web browser, instant messaging, anti-virus, MS Office program, etc, etc. While you're playing, don't run any app that isn't essential. Be sure that if you're running a firewall, that COD4 is fully allowed access to the Net.
If you're infected with a virus or something, that could also be causing it.
It's possible that Punkbuster could also be doing it, if it's trying to somehow communicate with the Net. Doing a manual update is never a bad idea.
