Double crash to desktop

Hi. I bought yesterday a Battlefield 2 Complete Collection copy via digital delivery at the EA Store. I installed it on both of my PCs, but both of them has its own problems.

1- The desktop PC: AMD Athlon 3200+, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2400. It simply crashes on the the desktop upon launch: double click, two seconds of blank screen, and then back to the desktop with no messages.

2- The laptop: Apple MacBook Pro with Bootcamp (so, a NATIVE Windows XP): here I can play single player with no errors, really great. But when I try to join a multiplayer game, I click on a server, then "Join server"... and boom, again to the desktop with no messages.

Please, help me, I really feel like I wasted my money

I dunno much aobut ATI cards. But when i first bought bf2 my card couldnt run it and the same t hing happend to me what is happening to you

Come on, I can't believe it... It's newer than the X800... It uses Catalyst drivers...

Its probally not your graphics. Tried send your problem to EA?

Make sure the path BF2 writes down server-history and stuff is NOT protected or in any way used by another program.

Reinstall BF2, re-patch to latest (1.41), make sure no weird programs are running in the background, maybe update to latest drivers or try other drivers.

I tried to phone the italian support, they asked me for a dxdiag.txt but still no response. I installed Windows two days ago, so it's a clean install, no "strange programs". What do you mean for "Make sure the path BF2 writes down server-history and stuff is NOT protected or in any way used by another program"?

Drivers are latest Catalysts.

Yes, forgot to mention. I'm up to the 1.41.

BF2 likes to write down a history of all played servers in a file, located in the same folder as your BF2 profile, often in your Documents.

I deleted that folder in order to make the game recreate it, and it did. But no joy.

check your resolution, if its not supported by the game it will do the same, like i increased my refresh rate one time from 60 to 75 & my game done exactly same, i had to change it back.

Hope your not using the 'play online now' shrotcut icon? That messes it up.
Just start the game from the normal game one. You could also try adding '+restart 1' (without the quotes) In the icons properties/target, that'll skip the intro movie and take you to the login screen, see if what happens then.

i mean the resolution on your pewter, not in the game. go to display properties & see what it is set at. i think standard that will work is 1024x768 - 60mhz refresh

Edit*** eventhough i think your system will run it, just check incase, go to the link below & hit bf2 in dropdown box & hit the "can i run it " button . it will istall a active x.
pay attention to see if you fail any parts........

Ok men, hold on, this is big: just for testing, i downloaded and installed Battlefield 2 demo.

Guess what? RUNS PERFECTLY: not the first nor the second "crash scenario" occured.
