    Scripted ragdoll

In know this game uses ragdoll in MP but how can it be that almost everytime you get shot in the chest your one leg flips up almost hitting your face and then you fall backwards. What I mean is, it seems there's only about 4 or so deathanimations, depending on which angel you get shot, how can that be since the game uses ragdoll. I think it's strange with the "flipping leg to face" death it's seen so many times through a match. I liked BF2 ragdoll better.
I'm not whining at all, cuz it doesn't really matter, I'm just being curious.

There is no thing as scripted ragdoll.. thats a paradox :)

There are death animations (scripted) and when animation finishes body becomes a ragdoll.

I know, that's way I called it scripted ragdoll, just for a little fun. It IS ragdoll but the "death ragdoll animation" happens so often. I just see that "kick leg in air and fall backwards" too many times in a MP game. I am well aware of the terms "ragdoll" "scripted" and "animation"
      ;0)

yeah, i love the ragdoll in BF2 and in MoH:A. the guys get blasted and flop around in the air. it makes getting the kill much more satisfying.

Dunno about you, but I've seen different ones. The best one I've seen was when I was trying to climb a window and I got shot with a .50cal. I literally flew backwards in the air. Was the best Kill cam I've ever watched. I was actually happy that someone sniped me right then and I've got to see that SWEET animation.

I'd also agree some of them are quite repetitive ... but I don't really mind 'em that much...

I've had one like that except I was climbing up a ladder, and I flipped backwards like 20ft into the air. Funny part was, he shot me in the leg.

Yeah, that happened to me last night. I got shot in the foot in Hard Core and was thrown violently backward like 20-25 feet by a silenced pistol shot. It was pure lolz.

I've found this death animation set up to be great.

Who gives a damn what they do, they're dead, move on to the next victim.

Besides, it's a lot better than BF2142, where bodies would flail around when they get stuck between two objects, making quite a bit of noise, and would generally freak out if they were shot while in mid air.

Yeah, the animations do look off. I wish there was an option to turn them off. The ragdoll physics are good though.
The only games that have mixed ragdoll and animations well are Far Cry and Crysis imho.

Its plain stupid if body just turns into ragdoll right away, in real life when you shot a person he will try to stagger or do something for a second probably.. maybe he will be thrown back, but there is no current rag-doll physics thats able to do that. Well Endrophin engine can do that, but it wasn't implemented in a game so far.

There are some games out there that have animations blended in nice.
Actually, if you watch some vids on the net, people who get shot just go limb and collapse like a sack of bricks., even the ones who don`t die instantly.
The animations in CoD4 should atleast go straight into ragdoll as soon as the model collides with something. Atm it just looks stupid.
