Internet Help needed!

Well I'm trying to connect my laptop to the internet by an ethernet cord but it won't connect to the router and such. The laptop connects and runs fine on the wireless but whenever I try to connect it via the cord, nothing seems to work!

I've tried turning the router, modem and computer off, plugging everything back in and still nothing. I've also tried repairing the connection but that comes up with an error.

I keep getting you have Limited or No Connectivity.

Any ideas on how I could fix this?

i'm not sure about laptops but I know on desktops you have to disable the wireless connection, then enable the wired on. If unsure how to do this post back.

Have you tried just plugging into the modem and bypass the router?

Didn't get a chance to do that, but will try it when I do.
