    TGL CoD4 Tournament

We're proud to open registration for our Last Stand - Call of Duty 4 tournament. The rules, map list, and specific schedule are still being worked on, but the tentative start date is early to mid January. Registration is absolutely free and we're offering $3,000 minimum in cash prizes. We're still acquiring additional sponsors and prizing for this event and it is EXTREMELY likely that the cash prizes will raise to between $5,000 and $8,000! An official announcement will be made concerning the exact size of the cash prize before the tournament begins.

This 5v5 Search and Destroy tournament will be using the yet-to-be released PAM competition MOD. The tournament will be single elimination and we anticipate a very large number of registered teams.

The TGL will be hosting a public COD4 meeting on Thursday November 29th at 8:00 PM Eastern to discuss various rules, maps, and preferences of the community (please read the forums at 7:30 EST on Thursday for the meeting location).

Any questions feel free to contact me.

The more teams we can get signed up would be great. The excat date it will start will be released after PAM4 is released.

I need one of the TotalCoD4 writers to contact me ASAP.

Anyone that plans on playing tournament or league at TGL for CoD4 is welcome to the meeting. i will be posting the Teamspeak IP about 30 minutes before the meeting.

Can i also get this Sticky please.

    39 Teams signed up currently.

Currently show 47 Teams Signed up.

What are the odds that we could actually play Call of Duty 4 in the tournament? By that I mean, competition mods are NOT the original game and have no place in competitive play. The game was in development for quite some time and there is no way that a few goons can make a more balanced game in less than 2 months.

      I can't agree more.

Also TGL, get your act together. CEVO starts Thursday and you guys have no Rules yet and no Map list and no Config. Get ahead not behind.

Any game has it's own competition mod, regardless of how much time is spent into the game. BF2 and BF2142 both had competition mods, and so does CS 1.6, DOD:S, Enemy Territory, COD2, etc

They do have a rough set of rules in place, basically following CEVO's COD4 rules . You can view them on the TGL forums.

VT_NERD and m3ow, you guys didn't tried the XFire Mod ( I think it's called?! ) yet?!? Had a couple of scrims with that mod already, 2 more this evening as soon as I get home from work.

TGL does NOT have to be ahead of everyone else. TGL IS TGL!! Unique in it's own kind, everyone knows that. So what if the other ones started already?!?! Unless you want to participate in multiple tournaments in the same time, and that my friend, would be your OWN problem... Btw, there's a TWL leage starting in December I think ...

But this time, :{bbf}: will make a name in TGL. Just wait and see. :P

I don't care what the mod is, competition mods are always stupid. I'm aware that they always get created, but my entire point was that nobody should endorse them and nobody should encourage their creators. 2142Pro was stupid. BF2Pro was slightly better, but still un-necessary.

It's just a barrier that the supposedly 'leet' players erect between themselves and the rest of the people that are playing the same game. If they're so great, they should play the game as it was designed and keep the playing field level between pubbers and themselves.

There's already a discussion on the way the game will be played in competition in the TGL COD4 section.

Yeah but that forum is overrun with the typical competition players who think competition mods are awesome.

They don't listen to reason and since they're too good to be caught on a public server they don't care that these mods completely change the way the game is played and make it harder for people who do enjoy pub play to compete with them. Or wait, they probably do understand this and relish the fact that they now have an advantage on top of their uber-1337 pwnz0r sk1lz.
