I know in COD2 there were mods made so that choosing your team was not an option. The only option when you joined the server was auto-select which worked very well at keeping the teams balanced. This game in particular doesn't favor one side or the other so this shouldn't be problematic to implement.

I think there's reason to be optimistic. I'm already seeing posts from stats/achievement type players becoming "bored". Over the next few weeks or couple months, I think most of them will disappear once they reach lvl 55 and have nothing more to do. That will leave players who are more interested in fun and playing the game properly.
I also find playing S@D helps alleviate this problem because you dont get much point in S@D and there for dont see that many stats whores on it.

Yeah It does happen alot in pubs.. I really hate most clan's now cuz they will alway's kick you out if you are doing good and yeah sad to say but console's are a little bit better at matching people up..

Somthing like that would be very good.. It would fix the game. This is a big problem for all the non stat whore's playing this game..

Edit: I have been looking for unranked server's and I can't find any at all even with 150/200 ping, anyone know a better way to look for them?

Are you using the browser filter for them, or just looking manually? I believe if you set the filter to "mods - yes", then it'll show unranked servers only.

I always auto-assign because there's absolutely no difference between the teams.

Has anyone else noticed that the auto-assign stacks teams? I just always go OpFor/Spetznas or choose the underdog so I don't get auto-switched. I hate that.

Eh, I like going into game where there are stacked teams. It's funny because I'll find about 5 rank 55 guys on one side, and no one over a 2nd Lt. on the other. I just join the low ranking side and beat the hell out of the rank 55'ers. GOLDEN GUN BABY!

I have to say that I don't mind uneven teams until it gets to be more than 3 players difference. Sometimes you just want to be able to play on the same side as your friends.

One of the things I didn't like about BF2 was that if I found a clan-mate on a server (ie. thru X-Fire) and went to join the game, I'd only have a 50/50 chance of being able to get on their team. Annoying.

I agree, I think it is fine to join you're friend's but when everyone does it just to be on he winning team, that is when it is bad.. They don't just change team's once they keep doing it.. That is how you know they are doing it for the point's..

Yeah that is what I mean by "they need to fix AB". I have been playing BF2. I forgot how fun it is.

We have auto balance on our server and when people wont balance, we start kicking the higher pointed people off the server.

Its extreme, but it forces people to keep the balance and stop the "cheating". And yes, we do tell people that if they dont balance out voluntarily, we will do it involuntarily.

And NO, this has only been warned twice and never actually had to be done.

I didn't realize you decided how the game was to be played and what makes it fun :shakehead

The "stat whores" from other games, let's say BF2, tend to be extremely dedicated, long-term players when they have things to work towards. Why do you think ranked BF2 with 2 new maps in 2 years is still as popular as it is now? It's definitely not custom maps and mods.

Unfortunately, the CoD4 devs didn't realize this and capped ranks and points entirely too early. Being able to "finish" the game quickly was one of BF2142's biggest failings (it took me 2 months vs 2+ years in BF2) and it's also a failing that CoD4 has apparently chosen as well. I suppose they have plenty of time to fix it in a future patch, but it's probably too late. I haven't even bought the game yet but I'm already disappointed.

If there were no points, or ranks or anything I can guarantee you that team stacking will still happen because people just want to win and they really don't care that the other team isn't having any fun. If you've played more than a couple different FPS's, you see the same behavior out of players. So let's stop blaming points/stats/whatever just because you personally find it to be a good scapegoat. The problem is that people feel anonymous on the internet and they don't care if they ruin your playing experience as long as they're enjoying themselves. This is why people cheat and exploit and glitch and do all of the other things that drive you crazy while playing.

If you want to avoid team stacking, play on servers with admins (that don't teamstack themselves).

^ What I said was strictly a comment/suggestion to Battl3fr0nt regarding the problem he's seeing, and how to see less of it.

When I say "stat-whores", these are the people who don't care about winning or losing or playing as a team/using teamwork...they just go into the game and do what they need for a particular achievement. Yes, they bought the game and are free to do as they want, but that behaviour ruins the game long-term.

There's a difference between enjoying the stats a game has to offer, and whoring them up. There are massive complaints on forums everywhere on how the stat-whores have ruined BF2. Yes, they're keeping servers populated, but also driving a lot of people away. Their "long-term" support is not helping to improve the gaming experience for many people.

As for team stacking, yes it happens from time to time on all games, but is more prevalent on ones where a bonus is awarded at the end for the winning team.
