Maybe it's the people increasing their purple heart count that make public games dog turd... i wonder what would break the circle.
Anyways, for some reason I've never had trouble finding servers with good gameplay. And btw I don't have a Purple heart still. Maybe there's a connection.

I wouldn't have a single Purple Heart if I didn't develop uber suicide tactics to make public playing more fun for me because without using funny tactics that piss the others off so much that they flame you, it's just like sitting there capping a flag, then waiting for the 20k voss whores to come and I dunno what, but most likely you die in the process, then go to the next flag and repeat.
So yeah, I play competetive or not all because pubbing just more boring than watching grass grow.Comment

i cant disagree with you more. i have played 2142 competively in TGL and also pubbed for nearly 900 hour or so hours. Playing comeptively while rewarding at points strips alot of the fun away from the game. Think you hate voss users now go play some comp BF2142 where everyone is a medic and either uses the voss or the krylov and p/k rockets. The game sucks more than it did before tbh.
4th Purple Heart in a week by suicide ramming stuff into vehicles or blowing myself up along with a bunch of enemies :yay:
I r so pro :salute:
Does anyone else think this game is a pile of dog turd unless you play competetively? Whenever I go pubbing I just end up increasing my Purple Heart count with uber funny strategies to pwn teh ppl. I even got banned from a server shortly before I got another Purple Heart.
What do you think is the best way to kill yourself and the enemy at the same time?
On the pub side i have had many many rewarding games with random people and have also made a ton of friends. Maybe if you speak up in your mic sometime, you would be surprised that people will and do respond. Play a team game and quit playing for points will also net a better squad.
Lastly in all the hours of this game in both the comp scene and pubbing i have still yet to ever get a purple heart :yay:
Quit bagging on the game and its players and try to enjoy it sometime.Comment

Why do people get so defensive on here and say stuff like don't let the door hit you on the way out. Obviously he is upset b/c the game doesn't act or perfom very well for him and we all have been there at one time or another where we have sat there a cursed at the screen b/c the game wouldnt act right. And we also know EA hasn't been the best in buisness her lately and I would rather see a hacker or cheater go than a fellow player but sometimes its time to move on. Hope to see ya again on the battlefield sometime soon.:salute:

I won't advocate ETQW as superior to BF because it fell short, still a very good game though also the fact that it works
But Crysis and COD4 are better games. In terms of production you have to wonder why the **** BF2142 is so unstable and plagued by problems when it uses the Battlefield 2 Engine and is not vastly different from its predecessor.
The Crysis engine is the best out there, the gameplay is fantastic, similarly COD4 (I myself didn't find it that enthralling) has a good system and gameplay, it even has a rank system that while apparently being broken doesnt make people pay extra for ranked servers hey ho ho
Hotfixes and patches dont take millenia to emerge and the developers actually seem to give a **** about whats going on, Jesus Christ EA even publish for Crytek, they can get it right so why the hell can't Dice. I can fully understand where this guy is coming from, the Battlefield series used to be the greatest online multiplayer game but now its a mere shell of its former self...
All because of the BS that EA and Dice has come up with, a group of uni students could do a better job of coding a stable engine and producing decent gameplay
Hell even a cave full of a million monkeys on typewriters could ****ing do it.
Don't slate the guy cos he finally gave up on it, its very understandable, a lot of people including myself have stuck around for a long time just hoping that something good would happen but no even thats a stretch for some Devs these days, thank god we still have Epic, Valve, Crytek etcComment

there's a lot to love about 2142.
there's a lot to hate about 2142.
it's a frustrating combination. maybe Dice and EA will learn that 10% more effort in QA/development leads to 100% better customer relationships. I love 2142 but i've had enough headaches from it that instead of pre-ordering BF3 i'm more likely to try a demo or wait a few weeks to see what other people think. millions of other people probably feel that same way - that turns into millions of dollars lost for EA and Dice. all they had to do was hire a couple programmers to work full-time on the KNOWN AND REPRODUCIBLE ISSUES and instead of mostly indifferent or angry users they'd have nothing but loyal fans. it's a simple business decision that pays off in the long run.
in short, i pretty much agree with OP, except for the frontlines thing. never heard of it, except that i put Frontline on my cats once a month to kill fleas.Comment

Well Said............
Well said LanDodger............some very valid points. It's hard not to criticise this game sometimes and vent some frustration but when players do they usually get flamed. Remember guys the game isn't free last time I checked. I myself have bought every BF game since BF 1942 was released plus alot more FPS. Remember we all have good days and then really bad days.Comment

Trust me, it isn't the QA people who are responsible. They work their asses off because in the end, their name and reputation are at stake - does anyone really believe they WANT to make poor products?there's a lot to love about 2142.

Look higher up the chain if you want to place blame on the EA system.
Secondly, bear in mind after the initial one-off sale, EA/Dice will see virtually no return on producing a game like 2142. This is the trade off you get for free online play (and the fact that everyone hated the ads and they lost that extra money there) - you can't keep paying for people to work on a product where there is no more money to be made. They don't have the financial incentive to do it so again... why do you think they bother if they aren't making money and `don't care`about the game?
The fact is that they *do* care. They are however limited in so many ways most people don't even realise unless they've been there. It's a bad situation, but that has to be understood and taken into account.
(This isn't specifically directed at you for the record, just people generally seem to need to remember these things.)Comment

Ah, but they *do* have a financial incentive to improve the game play- cash flow is still coming in the form of server fees, and if the game dies off so does that revenue stream. But, I don't know what EA's cut is, and how many devs that buys.
But there is a point here- They did a lot of work to earn our $50 each for a one-time sale. I bet if we each paid a buck a month, we'd get a he11 of a lot better after-market service. I'd pay that in a heartbeat.Comment
