BF2142 Is Dead - CoD Anyone?

Threads like this are like suicide notes. Some might actually be true from the OP's point of view, and there's little we can do in that case. Then again, quite often they are just people who are hesitating and hoping that when they post "shocking" stuff like this, other people would care enough to talk them out of it.

Haven't had any problems after installing the patch. Still have not had a chance to try out the new map online. Explored it abit on single player lan and thought the map looks well made. Can't go off play cod4 since my computer can't run it.

edit: come to think of it, I have noticed the ping on the servers that i usually frequent are slightly higher than pre 1.40, like +20 latency. Anyone else get the same thing?

well from the few rounds i tried clarking, even though the increased rof leads to increased kills the hit detection seems quite screwed, which is a good indication of less-than-optimal ping.
dunno if its permanent though...

To all flames.. i was thinking more of someone helping me out with why im getting d/ced every 5 mins even though ive followed all of the support topics.. just wondering if it was happening to anyone else.. and if it wasnt was gonna see if anyone else played CoD4.. so.. yeah.. Cheers for lowering my self esteem another peg. Joke..

In my opinion...CoD4 is lacking alot. I got it when it came out and within 24 hrs, i was already a 5 star gen. Its so full of nade spammers and grenade launching whores, that half the time you die within the first 10 seconds of the round. Also with all the people that add the bullet penetration perk, all they do is shot at the walls and you die. There is absolutly no squad play(everybody is rambo). And the gameplay is fast like CS. To me...its the most frustrating game to play and I am happy to be playing 2142 again.

Agreed, after playing CoD4 for a while it does get boring.. but with my BF being screwed i have two choices, go back to BF2 or play the game i really love - BF2142..

Nah, I actually came back to BF2142 last week after taking some time for Portal and HL2 Ep1. The trudging slog that Ep1 became has propelled me directly past Ep2 and back to BF2142 for the most fun 15 rounds I've played since I bought it last year! Having a great time, and though a few of my favorites were gone when I got back, I found some new favorites in no time.

I played the CoD4 demo, and it was exactly like you describe. Which, like you, I don't like. Sooo..... I haven't bought it. Though some of my 2142 buddies are saying, "It's so insane, it's awesome! It's so realistic, one- and two-shot kills, woohoo! No team play, but man it's fun!" They don't realize that every time they use the word "insane" it turns me off of CoD4 just a little bit more. I just wish TF2 weren't paced as fast as CoD4 also, it would be a ton more fun.

'Sides, why spend $40 on CoD4 when I'm (finally) getting myself a 360 (woohoo for Black Friday) and will be spending loads of time with Mass Effect & Assassin's Creed? :yay:

right after release of cod4, our camp g server was empty for a couple days, which was unusual, its usually full almost all day,

also i have stopped playing as much because of the pod tbh, they say you can move a little, be able to access roofs nearby, i can;t move at all, maybe like 1 foot if i am lucky

Different games caters for different people. What I find is those who like BF2 SF maps, would generally like COD4 as they are more infantry-based action. Those who like BF2142 would very much prefer Crysis. All games have their own merit but as BF2 has been around for sometime, it is only natural that gamers progress to newer games.

For us [JEDI]s we have been in BF2, BF2:SF, BF2142 and recently COD4. Personally given a choice, I wish EA could touch up BF2 and get rid of its bugs. It's one of the best games I've played. COD4 is very nice but imho it won't last as long as BF2.
