Patch 1.40 install file wont start??!?!?!?

I have this issue with the newest patch...i downloaded it, and when i launch the exe file nothing happens. When I check my Task Bar I can see a process named something BF2142 updade, but nothing else happens, and the process disappaers after while...i ve tried different sites, different patch files and everytime its same, has anybody same problem and found solution, pls let me know, i want to patch my game omg...

if your running vista try running it as administrator, if that dont work log in with THE admin account (not your configured admin account) and installing it through that.

Well, I uninstalled BF2142, then worked on video, sound drivers. Then reinstalled BF2142, and 1.40. All does ok now, and does great. I had to go back to Cat 7.6. I did get an email that Ati is working on a driver ver 7.12 (of course). Maybe BF2142 related fixes (Guessing).

My PC Specs, (not top of the line, but does great).
WinXP SP2 Home Edition
Amd AthlonXP 3200+ (tm) 2.2Ghz
2Ghz DDram (PC3200s 2x512, 1x1024 400mhz dual Channel)
160Gb HD, 80GB HD
Ati Radeon 9700 Pro (256MB) video card
