Battlefield 2 compatility?

Hey i was thinking of getting Battlefield 2 for my PC and wanted to know if it would work before i blew 50 or so bucks on it.

i'm only 15 and not overly "1337" or smart for those un 1337 people and these are the things i know so far about my hardware.

From running dx diag or whatever it is called i think i have:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPU's)---- (would appreciate it if some1 made sense of that)

512mb RAM

DirectX version 9.0c

Windows XP home edition

"NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/64 pro" graphics card with arrpox. total memory or 32MB

ok we've established the TNT is stone age.
how much would it cost me to get a graphics card that will run at least battlefield 2 or cs source or somethin that won't embarrass me 4 being good at

What kind of budget are you looking at?

Also for BF2 you're going to need at a minimum of another 512mb of ram.

Yep. Add some RAM. 512MB will chug on BF2.


It depends on what graphics card slot you have if any, AGP cards haven't died. If you're playing on PCI, it'll be quite bad.

the 5500fx for pci is decent,still runs bf2 on low good enough on my p43.3 ghz with 512 mb of ram.

CPU isn't bad. Memory and video shouldn't be too hard to upgrade. You should be able to get a minimally acceptable video card for $50 or so (GeForce 6200; available in PCI, PCI Express, or AGP). I'd recommend spending at least $100 on the video if you don't want to be disappointed though.

Were you serious about spending $50? I got it at Best Buy for $10. Seriously.

I think you must have a "server" motherboard. Those are the only ones I know that still come with a TNT2 GPU onboard and a socket 775. So you really just need to buy a graphic card (most likely PCI express x16) and add more memory. Then your computer should be fine.

Purchase a Radeon X850Pro and you should be good to go.
