@Fingulfin a few posts up, and iDash:

I dunno exactly what happens to iDash, but sometimes for me when I land on uneven ground (yes, the correct way) the transport simply shakes like it's having a bout of epilepsy, then explodes. Makes no sense. I didn't touch anything except ground, took no damage upon landing, and am fine for the first second or so. Very annoying. Thankfully it's not every time...

yea i have had problems with tanks registering hits especially on walkers when i am 100% positive i hit the walker. i sometimes get out of the tank and re-enter but i don't know if it helps. but yea there is definitely problems with hits registering on that map, although i haven't noticed much lately. dunno about walkers, i rarely play them but honestly they are not good at hitting things that far away.

about the map crashing, i've read on this forum few things like running some PB streaming component causes crashes or something like running the map for x number of times straight w/o reloading the map causes crashes or something. can't remember exactly what, but the server owners here will know more about that. that said, it might just be me but i haven't experienced as much instability lately compared to when the patch first came out. maybe the server owners figured out how to keep it running?

also there is this weird visual bug that shows on your netbat/3d map of showing enemies inside a stationary turret or fav when they're not. anyone else catch this?

Has happened all the time, its just like the phantom gunship bug. I got a REALLY weird one on Highway tampa the other day... It said there was an empty transport in the middle of the desert, so me and my clan mate went over to investigate. We could HEAR the engines, and see the icon for an empty transport on the mini-map, but we couldn't see it :|: I put down an IDS, and it said there was an infantry, my mate put down a PDS and then it said that the transport was full. Then just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. We drove away, but a good five minutes later it was back. Creepy...

OMG, grrr, I friggin' HATE that bug. I usually just rejoin or spawn at home base and use an APC to pod up. Then I try to put down a beacon or something. But sometimes the APC literally takes like 10 minutes to respawn (ok I'm exaggerating but it takes a LONG amount of time, maybe a couple minutes max).

All these little problems mentioned don't really bother me. The best fix is to join another server. But what bothers me the most is how... laggy the games feels. You'll run into moments when someone knifes you from >10m. I dunno, but after playing some better-programmed games (TF2 for example), it really sticks out.

yeah but don't forget, the sheer map size of BF is immense compared to other games. and there are more moving objects and likely more players. it might not be pretty as those other games but make no mistake BF maps are probably much more complex, especially on titan mode. i do think that titan mode was too ahead of its time and it wasn't really ready for acceptable performance.

I don't like that either. So basically assume it isn't loaded and double check. I only made that mistake once. It loads things I never use either.

Today, a new bug appeared, the game froze when I clicked join game. Nothing happened and the music stopped instead playing with no end. The game didn't start but it was easy to get out of with the three finger salute, ctl-alt-del.

Yep, I got used to the custom kit mess.
its just like the phantom gunship bug
I was playing Fall of Berlin as PAC, and my squad managed to sneak past the first EU Flag next to that Rorsch. So, we all ran up the ladder and jumped down the other side when I suddenly noticed on my mini-map that there's an APC jumping or climbing down the other side. So, basically, the mini-map showed me the APC where all the squadmates were.

A buddy said that 1.4 will be the last patch for BF2142. Is this just a rumor or has EA/Dice moved onto better things?

I wouldn't say better but other. That's too bad if true, then it sounds like they gave up and threw out their own flag.

yeah they really threw in the towel; an example of this is their attempt at delivering on people's demand for saved custom kits and having it save some completely random wrong load-out. they knew it wasn't working right during the last beta patch, but decided they can't be bothered to fix it. another good example is throwing in the towel at fixing the EU transport right seat bug.

In other words they didn't make themselves or the engine flexible enough. One game fix creates dozens more breaks, such is the nature of programming. Apparently only one person was working on 1.40, dunno if this is true.

They lowered their own flag, rest in pieces. It would be great if they patched the patch.

Another bug appeared today playing cer. landing. One of the squads captured the roadblock flag but it would not turn.

As commander, I could see there was no one around the flag but our troops. We held it for a while but it didn't change, the flag just stayed neutral. The other team got it back eventually, it was strange and frustrating that we couldn't capture it.

its an old bug. everyone must leave the flag erea and then it you can cap it. its tricky but better then having a neutral flag. works with the most thing who dont die/get destroyd/get capped. leave it for a moment and cap engage it again.

We eventually did get it back, it just took longer than expected. That neutral flag slowed us down since we didn't cap it the time we were there when they held it first. It was a good round though other than that glitch. Good to know, I remember that next time.
