So you think your PC Cant Run COD4?

    **NOTE: Only for Windows Computers!**

    Hello,

Names Aztec.... I devote my life to computers and Ive been reading about how a lot of people on IW's forums and on random sites across the web have been reluctant to buy COD4 for PC because they might think they're PC cant run it. Now this isnt a jab at people who know what they're talking about when they say they cant, but for people who are un sure I'm here to help.

The first thing Im going to do is set my PC as the minimum requirments for Running COD4 in this thread. Since my computer is coming up on being 7 years old, its a stock dell, with only a Geforce 6600 Graphics card and 1 gig of ram. Everything else but the sound card is stock. Processor is 2.56 Gigahertz Pentium 4 No Hyper-Threading, no Centrino. But besides that, Im sure the actual minimum requirements are lower. If you played on all low settings and disabled some key graphic elements. I also only have 15 gig left on my hard drive and I havent defragged in about 6 months. Though now that Ive typed all this Ive realized that, Ive said what I needed to say. I guess my point is that, even a 7 year old computer can run COD4 with minimal problems.

If you'd like me to check your computer I can do that for you. Just do this simple prodecure and email me the file it produces to Jnessing@columbus.rr.com.

    Step 1: Click on Start.

    Step 2: Click on Run.

    Step 3: Type in dxdiag.

Step 4: Let it load, it should take about a minute.

Step 5: Click the button Save All Information.

Step 6: Save the file, attach it to an email and send it to me.

*NOTE* The file this produces is in no way harmful, it lists your computer specifications. (RAM, Graphics Card, Sound Card, Processor, Chipset, etc.)

The choice is yours. =D Hope this helped.

why dont you post your resolution and setting with fps results? that way, readers will know what to expect from their specs.

You have to be much more specific than 2.56 GHz processor. A quad-core Q6600 at 2.56GHz? or a Intel Pentium I somehow overclocked to 2.56GHz?

Gigahertz isn't much of a measure of the potential speed of a processor because different processors are made with different architecture, thus, some 1.4GHz core can be faster than a 3.2GHz core due to a different architecture.

And hey, if this wasn't the case, wouldn't we have processors running at some insane clock speed like 10GHz?

My bad, Its your basic Pentium 4, no Centrino, no hyperthreading, just a basic Pentium 4.

I have a friend who says he cannot run COD4 so he wont buy it i know his Pc is way old but do you think this would run ?
If not which i presume so what would he need to change ram to 1 GIG etc

            Nvidia gforce 6600
            ram 512 mb
            pentium 4 cpu 2.00 GHz
            HD 250 gb

Heh, I have the 6600 Graphics card, its an AGP x4x8 card outdated because of PCI Express, the Processor is fine, 2.0 is good, im just .5 ahead of that, and his space on the HD is fine. The only thing that would help it run smoother and help overall computer speed would be the RAM, but I would need to know what type he has, and so would he before buying it. The type determine the price, to upgrade my RAM it was like 250 dollars.

Not sure where you buy your parts but $250 sounds obscene for ram. You can pick up 2gig of name brand ram for $50-100 nowdays.

                  "Nvidia gforce 6600
                  ram 512 mb
                  pentium 4 cpu 2.00 GHz
                  HD 250 gb"

I tried running it with the GeForce 6800 Ultra and could not.
It would overheat and shut the puter down. I had to replace
it and install a new heat sink/heat sink fan, two new fans
and the 7800 GS OC. Runs real nice now : )

Computer genius guy...thanks for helping others. For
me the solution was to buy my way out of the problem.

                    I got a:

                    6600 GT
                    P4 2.93 Ghz
                    1 GB RAM

Can i play this a bit properly? Because downloading stuff on my comp is just a disaster.

EDIT: Finally downloaded the demo with success and played it without low FPS on my rig with great graphics!!

I hope the same graphics will be on the full game. Then i'll be happy

The graphics are exactly the same as the demo. That's what the demo is for, to test if both your computer can handle it and if you like the game before you make your decision.

                          Ok thanks!

And for the above poster. I don't think your comp can handle it, because the minimun requirement for the graphics card is a 6600GT and if i'm correct the 6600GT is better then the 6200.

Try downloading the demo, it worked for me too ( finally )

                              Question:

Obviously Singleplayer will run fine for me. But i've heard some problems with Multiplayer. People claim that they run Singleplayer fine, but Multiplayer gets choppy. Will i have the same problems? My specs are above.

                              Thanks in advance.
