    2 PCs 1 user...online rank...

So I want to be able to have COD4 installed on 2 different computers, one at work and one at home. Will I be able to play online and have the same User Stats from one PC to another? Is the serial # linked to my online name somehow? I am not asking to play online using both computers at the same time although I do have 2 DVDs and serials.

Stats are saved locally on the hard drive of each PC. They are tied to the CD Key used to install the game. If you install the game on both PC's using the SAME disc, then yes, you can transfer your stats back and forth. You CANNOT do this if you use 2 different copies of the game. As you realize however, if you use the same disc on both PC's, then you cannot play online using both at the same time.

The stats are stored in your Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles folder, in a filed called "mpdata". If you transfer that file back and forth between your 2 PC's, then you can keep your progress going.

I wish all the player info was kept on a central server like BF... oh well.

But thanks for that info, even thought it's a PITA!! Guess that's why we have USB flashdrives

Oh, do you know if I can do the same for the single player game? If so do you know what files would be needed?

      Thanks Again

USB flashdrive or even emailing the file to yourself should work.

As far as the SP, yeah, you should be able to do the same thing, but you will probably have to move your actual save files. Not sure if you would need to move all of them, or if just the latest one records all the info needed to track your progress.
