    Lag during Air Strikes

The game runs fine on all high settings, i get between 60-90 fps, but during an air strike i get massive amounts of lag, then after the airstrike is over, everythings fine again.

I had the same problem. Turns out it was my antivirus program. I use EZTrust. You can't just "snooze" the antivirus but actually have to go in and disable the realtime protection. After that everything was perfect.

And I know it sounds crazy but all I can say is it works. I don't know if it's only EZTrust but it might be other AV progs too.

Thanks for the fix goes to some guy over on the CoD4 forums.

I believe you! Damnit, before I formatted I ran my settings on all the highest settings and my FPS never fell below 80, then I had to reformat cuz a damn bad spyware/virus and decided to install EZTrust. Now, I even have an additional 2 Gigs of RAM on after the format (Now being 4GIGS DDR2 800) and I lag at Airstrikes.

Thanks for that info, I'll have to remember to turn it off when I go into game.

I don't think that SpyBot Search&Destroy has any effect on the game.

Since i don't think it has anykind of realtime protection(scans your files all the time), like AVG, F-Secure etc has...

I haven't noticed that much of an lag during airstrikes, allthough i have F-Secure and AVG anti spyware running in the background...

I tend to get lag spikes even if theres not an airstrike! My ping will jump from 30 to -150 for no reason

                  I had major lag today...

First my ping was around 50... Then it went to 800-999 and the whole game was one big slideshow...

Then it stopped, and i played for a while and quitted.

Then i noticed that Windows has downloaded updates, and that's the reason for this...

If you use CA security center then you have to add the CoD4 folder to the exceptions for runtime scanning.

If you have other anti-virus software you may have to turn them off too.

The only protection on my computer is Windows firewall. No antivirus. No internet security program. I run Counterspy to get rid of my daily tracking cookies and I haven't had a virus or spyware in a very very long time.

Stay away from the porn, cheat sites and warez and you'll be ok.

As some of us can't keep away from the porn sites, use NOD32 anti virus, it causes non of the problems as described aboved.
