im going to kill cod 4

so aside from all the server time out problems n such, the game has been perfect. But like 45 minutes ago i joined a server and there was no voice sounds. Like in HQ mode where they yell " headquarters located! " and such, those didn't play. And when i went up a rank, it didn't play the badass music. So i went to another server, and it had the same problem. So someone said to turn on " EQ filter " in the sound options, so i went and did that, and it immediately made my game crash to windows. So i went to open the game back up, and i got a directX error saying " warning, unrecoverable error occured, view readme ". And now my game won't start..

Has anyone else got this? and how can i fix it?

Ok well, i restarted my computer and it lets me play again. But everytime i try to turn on EQ filter, it crashes the game.

I think you may need a sound card to run the EQ filter. IE, hardware support for audio output.

Yeah but why did all of a sudden all the voices in game and the music turn off?

That is the million dollar question.

I don't have the game yet.. so.. I have no clear idea on the settings.
