howdy ho guys, im looking to build a new computer(bday coming up) and ive spent the last 2 weeks looking at what I want. So, here is the rundown:

what do i want to do, you may ask? well, what I will mainly do for now is play battlefield 2(i can play at max setting with this setup right?) get cod4 very soon, and quake wars comes with my gfx card, so ill play that. mabye some 2142.

hehe, that rig should be fine for all the games your planning to play, max graphics for both QW & CoD4 other than those 2, its overkill for BF2/2142

is that mandatory? the case I got should be great, i tried to find the coolest(air wise) case I could. and its huge, so i can buy a 150mm fan(if they make it) and stick it in front of my gfx card.

nope, the hottest ive seen these cards run is 94*C but that was insanely overclocked, but thats a disadvantage of a single slot cooler,

I'm not sure which way the fan blows air through, but you can cut a square in the plastic shield on the side nearest to the metal case mount using a hot knife and file, and stick a 180mm fan on. I did it to my 8800 and it worked a treat, dropped 10 degrees under load.

tyvm. I will be sure to take pictures and mabye a video of me putting it together, plus some noobness playing on it by yours truly. and don't flame 'z0mg that n00b doesn't need a c0mp like that he suckzzzzzzzzzzzzzz' because i am not good. and my current computer right now is like a slideshow of battle pictures. and yes, i do think i can get better
especially when a guy comes aroudnt eh corner, dolphin dives, and i spin around and take forever to find him cause of my lag.

oh btw how much does internet connection affect fps compared to hardware? like if you had a suckass computer and like an uber internet connection, or if you had a pro compuer, and bad internets, what would be more favorable? im guessing the good computer, but idk.....

im sure the intel cpu is fine for playing those games but where i live (victoria, australia) some cpus such as an amd x2 6000+ 3.0ghz are alot cheaper than intels (example below). i know it is dual core not quad core but i prefer the amd. Also, intels are easier to overclock but the amd has a higher ghz you could run it at around 3.4

the AMD AM2 6000+ is equivalent to the E6600, anything above that and the AMD is no match especially Quad Cores. (Quad cores can clock to over 3.4ghz)

Good luck with your build. The only thing I do not understand is the need for a 700W PSU. Apart from the GPU, you do not have any components in your system that would warrant that big of a PSU. The case already comes with a 500W PSU, which, if decent, should power a single 8800. I'd save the money and get 4GB of ram instead. From what I have heard, Vista alone already guzzles 1GB of ram easily.

k, but the 500w psu that comes with my case is extremely bad, says the reviews of newegg. and the 700w ensures i don't have to get a bigger one when i get another 8800 (later) and i would only save 20 bucks to get the 600w. And i will stick with the 2gb for now, and if I need to upgrade later, i will
