Claymores why is friendly fire still punishable?

So I am playing Karkand and I am playing sniper. I've got myself a real peach of a sniping spot and I am quite happily doing my thing. Of course I don;t want any bad guys finding me so I;ve booby trapped the entrance to the location with Claymores.

Friendly fire is on so I am making sure not to shoot my own team mates when suddenly BOOM seems I've team killed and not only that the total moron has decided it's my fault he was too stupid to notice the massive red warning signs at the side of the screen and on the game map in front of him.

I of course inform him that if he wants to punish anyone it should be himself or at least his mum for making him as stupid as he is and then inquire as to weather being a moron is a chosen career move or just a part time hobby for him.

Anyways things move on game ends, teams swap over and we kick off again and yet again I find a different but just as nice sniping spot and as before I lay claymores and as before BOOM, I've teamkilled and again I am punished and a quick look shows me that it is in fact the EXACT same person.

So given that the servers appear to have a high content of folk suffering from a basic lack of understanding that a red skull and cross bones means don't go using your pogo stick in this area, I find it surprising that clays still allow you to be punished. Infact I should have the option to punish him for

a). giving my position away and
b). wasting a perfectly good claymore or blowing up his dumb ***.

Look at the flip side, though. If FF is on and claymores either

    - don't cause any team damage
    - cause team damage but don't credit for teamkill,

can you imagine how ridiculous the infy combat would be on Karkand, among other maps? It's already a bunny-hopping, nade spamming, dolphin-diving joke: anything more added would make it a posterchild for how to ruin a perfectly good game with patches... wait, that honor belongs to other games at the moment. Be careful what you wish for, dude.

Good. I hit page-down the second I see that message, esp. if the claymore is at a flag I'm capturing, of which it is 99% of the time.

On the flipside, I actually don't care about anything other than my personal fun (and anybody who I'm with, anonymous or not), and if I get an e-punish for an e-teamkill, from a claymore or not, I really don't give a flying f*ck. I have 10 accounts or so in any case. Then again, whenever that happens, my teammates always seem to fly off the carrier when I get in a jet. Strange phenomena.

Don't get me wrong though, as I understand where you're coming from and I can appreciate how frustrating your situation can be as a result of experiencing something similar almost every single time I hop in a heli with an unknown.

Yeah, your frustration is understandable, but I think youd understand why claymores are usually FF on after playing a round or two of Karkand I/O with claymore FF off. No fun.

            Exactly.

It's literally a human minefield all over the place, and it's also raining grenades. I'm pretty sure that's not what DICE had in mind when they made infantry only, but hey... learn from your mistakes, right?

Yep, right, I hate blind teammates that get blown up by my clays. I only have two of them and loosing one and getting punished is frustrating.
But well, life goes on without claymores. May not be a long life but hey at least you can respawn....

I remember when I first started playing as Engi and Sniper when both clay's and Mines would always kill friendly's. It was so infuriating that every 2 minutes you were getting punished. It made the use of their secondry weapons/equipment almost useless.

When the FF=Off was introduced it was bliss. I can see what the problem is on Kack-land with Clay's, so they should just kill friendlies but not allow a punish. Just like the Commanders Arty works.

Infantry only should also have meant guns and knifes only too. No nades, GL's, mines or clay's.

you're an idiot. it's a game, stop whining. maybe he was walking around without the flags/ warnings up...and i bet the second time it was intentional since you tried to pull off a very mediocre joke at best.

There is also just a category players who think the objective of the game is to get your teammates a negative score... and the sad part is they really feel good about it. Now they might be able to get some medal in the round after all.

Of course not. Just saying it would be a more interesting game if there was a city map where people could only use their primary gun & pistol/knife. Hence it relies more on skill with the weapon rather than just dropping clays and lobbing nades in all directions.

                          Just a personal preference like.

Oh no please don't call me an idiot, how will I get through these next few moments

                            - holds back the tears
                            - bites knuckles

Right, okay, that was close, for a moment there I thought I was going to break down physically and emotionally... but some how I JUST managed to hold it all together......

around without the flags/ warnings up
Sorry officer, it can't be my fault you caught me speeding you see I removed my car's speedo before I set off, you can't blame me for travelling at 130mph in a 30 zone. It's in no way my fault that I removed the speedo.... you getting the point here?

Good. I hit page-down the second I see that message, esp. if the claymore is at a flag I'm capturing, of which it is 99% of the time.
I would agree with you in that instance, that's just claywhoring but fact is I never lay claymores around enemy spawns I only ever use claymores to protect the entry points to locations I am sniping from which in this instance was no where near an enemy spawn.
