What does it take to become a great pilot?
Alright, here's my little guide that I'm going to share with you all on becoming a great pilot. I'm going to assume here that you know how to work all the controls and such. Before I start, there's no guarantee that what I'm about to type is completely knew to you all, but these tips are what I think a person should use when piloting.
I think by now you've all read about "knowing your surroundings", and "take time to familiarize yourself with the jet", so I'll cut right to the point.
If at any time, for any reason that red X pops up and it starts beeping like crazy, 1) pull your jet up ASAP and 2) tap the C key until you get a view of whats locked onto you (i.e. a stinger, jet, etc..). The C key is vital to being a good pilot. You may find yourself hitting it repeatedly once you get comfortable with it. All the different camera angles are there, so why not use them to your advantage? It lets you find out whats chasing you, how far they are, how are the missile is, and more.
In the F-35, we all know its a total pain evading missiles in that thing, because its virtually impossible (although there are times when you can evade them). Now, when you locked on by another jet, tap the C key until you reach the front view of the aircraft looking behind it. Don't release your flares just yet. Now, once your locked on, and you've spotted the missile, pull a hard right or left, and stay on that path. Once the first missile, or few missiles is about to hit you, release those flares, and pull up. All this can still be accomplished with that same camera angle. Once you've pulled up, it shouldn't be that hard to lose him, just continue maneuvering and you'll be fine.
Lets say you're cruising around, and you spot a jet very far from you, but close enough to get a lock on him. Once you locked on, fire one missile, wait for it to get near him, and then'll he'll release his flares, once he does that, send him your whole payload if you want, chances are he's fried.
When your in a jet, flying at a fairly high altitude, and then you become targeted, press the C key again to get the view looking behind you, and spot the missile. When the missile nears your jet, dive immediately, but don't stop, try to go in a circle but while still diving. Many, if not all of the missiles will miss your jet, this tactic goes for any jet, mabye except for the F-35, When I've done it in the F-35, mabye 1 missile misses me, but it hardly works as well as with the other jets.
Another useful tactic is flying at a high altitude. Don't leave yourself constantly vulnerable while flying low to the ground. Stay high, and occasionally drop down to see if any jets are flying through, same with ground targets. Also, try to avoid flying through the middle of the map, use the boundaries to fly along and to stay out of danger.
Just to prove that I know what I'm doing and that I'm not just bs'ing you with info, I'll leave a few ss's of my in game performance, not to brag, but just proof:

I also get quite a few complaints from players and server amdins that I'm hacking when I fly, thats when I get a good laugh. I've actually even got banned from a server for "hacking" when in reality I wasn't, I guess I was just too good lol. I'll leave you with a ss that was most recent:
