Crashing to Desktop when LAN game

[Ventilaator]

Me and my friend we both have 1.41 versions installed and we tried doing LAN today ... either I or he did the server, the one who joined, crashed to desktop right after the map loading was complete =/

could use any help, as we would rly like to make LAN

When I close xfire, I just get the "BF2 has encountered a problem and needs to be closed" error. And that is ONLY when playing in LAN, i did internet/single play.

so basiclly u guys set up a server, right????

1. tell the guy who joined to instead of pressing join game press esc. sounds stupid but it was a bug a while bck

2 chek ure router cos u might have to make the security less in away but to be fair setting up a server on a routers dangerous cos it leaves ure pc open. there is away u can run a server. look at the website: http://www.gameservers.com/?ref=1613046
wouldent advice it cos it costs ALOT.

3. download the EA server thingi for 1.41 patch but again wouldent advice it cos it puts strain on ure pc.

Im not trying to set up a dedicated server .... just a local server. dunno ....

btw he hasnt installed his game client ... just copied it off my comp .... we have different cd-keys, but we are both using the non-DVD .exe's

You just answered your own question there. Actually install the game and use a mini-image. Tutorial on main page.

You can host a LAN dedicated server also. You have more options than using the ingame browser.
