    Computer freaking out

Well the title basically explains it...

Long story version though is that I've been playing diablo 2 for a week or something now and didn't have any problems up until last night. Thats when my computer just started freezing and taking a while to do a simple process like switch between different screens IE. alt-tab out of d2 to change music playing.

So I defragmented my HD figuring maybe stuff is flying all around in there and that did nothing. I also noted that the problem is not with diablo 2 alone, but now my whole computer seems to be "burping". windows I have open will not close properly anymore IE. I have to take another window and literally clean my screen with it to remove the previous one sometimes.

Anywho, I guess it sounds like a memory issue then now that I look at what I'm typing... Any other thoughts?? I'm downloading avg virus scan right now to check if I have a virus but I haven't downloaded anything for a while so I doubt it.

And no its not a hardware out of date issue :)

    E6600
    2gb 1066mhz ram
    evga gtx
74 gb raptor 4 main thingys (20gb used)
    300gb storage
    320 gb storage.

Oh yeah, one last thing. Even while I am typing this, occassionaly the last letter I type at the end of the word does not show up IE. I typed "Show" but I only see "Sho" and then I hit the w again and get "Showw".

Ok and my computer just started to trip out again and I only have this window open and a tab window on ie that I haven't even used yet and the avg download which just finished. It seems to me my computer does not want to multitask anymore.

Ps. I uninstalled diablo in hopes it was an isolated problem but well, nothing was solved and if anything, the problem seems be getting worse.

Definitely seems like a memory/processor issue. I'd just reformat the whole damn thing. Imagex rules.

Yeah I was thinking that too, I like to format every couple of months to keep everything in tip top shape but I just loaned out my winxp disc to a friend so he could go back to xp pro from vista (he has xp pro cd key just no install disc). So yeah, formating won't happen until thursday/after thursday prolly.

      EDIT.

Forgot to say that there is no virus either which I didn't expect there to be.

          Re: Computer freaking out

Well right now the cpu usuage is fine, I have d2 minimized doing a game update which is using half of the cpu at the moment..

After I'm done updating I'll fire up wmp again as it usually starts to burp more when that happenes.

Also, I noticed my bios seems a bit messed up now too. I went in it to lower my memory clock even though 1066 is its normal speed down to 800 and on the part that askes if you want to save your changes message, it was fuked up. Basically it use to have a min rectangle box that appeared with that message in it and Y or N for your option but now I don't even get a box, I just get a blinking N or Y in the middle of the bios screen.

So I'm guessing I'm going to need to flash my bios.

Also, I don't know why its been happening but for over a month now the last time I went into my computer (took out 2gb of ram), it always says someone was inside the case please check on POST and hit F1 to continue. No one I asked seemed to have a solution to fix it so I just lived with it but I guess everything is coming down now.

Ps. after reinstalling d2 my computer seemed to fail the video testing apparently?! I got the latest directx for xp and 163.67 drivers for my card... I checked for updates but it doesn't look like much has changed and I don't want to DL 42mb of bs if I don't need to.

Woah strangely the problem stopped all of a sudden now... I have no idea why it started or why it stopped but nonetheless a format is planned to occur soon =P
