I am sure that if we had 2 choppers solo vs 2 choppers duo (or 1 solo vs 1 duo), pitting the non-solo crowd in this forum against the solo crowd here, the soloers would win hands down.

Don't believe it? Put it to the test.

People have no idea what they are talking about. Care to explain how duo with N@@B pilot/gunner can win against good soloer? You obviously never flied with noobs.

Very easy: they jump out and get in two jeeps.

That's the first step towards recognizing soloing as a valid technique. Congratulations, you've taken your first step towards the Daaaaaaaaaaaaaark Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide. /Sith laugh

On topic, I think this could be arranged.

Since we want to make this representative of the overall BF2 population, we should have randomized helicopter teams, organized helicopter teams and of course, soloers of all levels. From there, we can organize some sort of round-robin and tally everything up.

I suspect it'll be an easy victory for soloers against the random two-man teams, and somewhere between 30/70 to 70/30 for the soloers against organized teams, depending on the skills of each member playing.

This problem will never be solved.

                Too many variables.

People just need to keep on doing what works best for them. :)

Re: How We Can Solve This Solo, or not Solo.

This is dumb. The answer is simple. Put the ability to swap seats in as a selectable box in the game much like they did with the infantry only thing. With it selected just press a button and go from pilot to gunner and back or armor driver to 50 cal and back. With it unselected you must exit the vehicle to swap seats. Also once lock is achieved, by the AA, it stays only the flares or range can change it.

All solo people have the same idea that no one is a good as they are so why should I have to fly with them! And the team fliers think that its a team effort that gets it done. Yes you might get the Noob pilot or gunner but you might also be on the noob team and we all know how that turns out. Which ever side you are for, IMO, that is the only real solution. Is this gonna be another thread that I make the last post in, I hope not. . . . . . . . .Red

*Did anyone cath the solo bias? In the post above the solo guy flies with him self all the time and he was suggesting that the team flier get stuck with a noob. Thats fair?

Well, that's not necessarily the case, though for some it's definitely true.

The problem is, you have a very small percentage of over-achieving or simply highly skilled players, in contrast with the vast majority, who end up deficient but functional. The former have high expectations and instantly compare their current performance with past results: knowing they could be achieving so much more, frustration sets in and measures are taken to ensure a return to their status quo.

A lot of soloers desire companionship in the chopper, but when they're almost certainly picking up a player who can't measure up, the only alternative is flying alone. I was soloing on R|A earlier and another excellent chopper soloer came in: I ended up flying with him for the next three rounds because we knew it would make a good match.

We don't exclude everyone but the very best, but when you reach a certain level of performance, it's almost inevitable that most people won't qualify as a suitable replacement to soloing. Sad but true...

Again, what you say here is pretty much true.

I also don't have anything against people who solo, and my clan relies on it sometimes in a match, that extra body can come in handy on the ground sometimes.

I have issues with people who "do whatever it takes" to solo on public servers, and their general elitist attitudes.

"Whatever it takes" might be stealing the enemy chopper, or capping a flag with a heli spawn. It doesn't necessarily include a perceived wrong like teamkilling.

Sloi, I fully support stealing the other team's chopper. 100%. My flying ability is at the level that it'll let me grab the Havok from the base in Sharki and evade the 2 Vodniks and the AA missile to deliver it to the TV station for someone more competent to actually fly it :)
