BF2 freezing!!!! Please help!

It just randomly freezes . I wait for a minute, still frozen, the sound is looped, I do alt+f4, still nothing, it seems my whole computer is frozen because nothing has any effect on it except if I hold the power button and then it shuts off.

I'm an avid BF2 player and I find this very annoying.

Try updating punkbuster, also check your temps, could be overheating

My pc is pretty darn good, it doesn't get hot, even when I play for long.

Is this a new problem or have you just started playing BF2?

how much memory do you have?

i have 1.5gb and it freezes for some seconds in the beginning of the round, and thats because i have to little memory, i think.

Yeah ^ 2 gigs is highly recommended, at the most BF 2 uses like, 1.7 gigs or something!!

Someone else posted a potential solution to this fix and so far it seems to work for me.

If you are running Rivatuner then make sure you update that to the new 2.05 version. For some reason punkbuster and rivatuner don't don't place nice when left together.

You need to make sure you turn off all the background processes in windows before you play online.

Also, what are your full system specs?

And yes if you lower your geometry & textures to medium you will see less stuttering.
