Yes, you have to finish a round. You can disconnect from the server and reconnect and you'll still have the points you have from that game but you have to finish that game in order to receive your points.
Thats incorrect as far as I know. You must finish the round to get your medals and badges but you don't need to finish a round to get your points. You can leave at any time and your points will still be there. If the server crashes on the other hand your points will be lost as the server has to restart. Points are recorded in real time on the server, hence the reason you can leave and rejoin and your points will still be there. If you leave half-way through your points will still be added to your stats when that round ends, even if your not in the game.
I'm assuming thats why on stats sites you see "completed" and "incomplete" for rounds.

I'll nip it in the bud, because your stats take a while to update sometimes. If you wanna check your stats use a web site such as www.bf2stats.nl type in your username on the left and voila. You need to be patient with the stat updates in BF2
no, you don't. you can play and get 4,956 points, disconnect from the server 30 seconds before the round ends and still get your points. As long as the server itself doesn't crash or disconnect before the round ends, it records your points as you get them and sends them off after the round is over. cheers

Well, none of my points would show up after I disconnect after getting them. I usually get around 50-100 points before I disconnect and check my progress. It shows up as the same as before.
No serious, check your filter.
You wouldn't be the first one playing on unranked servers and wondering where the points are.
There are also "modded" servers taht show up as ranked but have kind of an own ranking system. You won't get these points in you stats.
