This is really starting to make me mad

I finally got patch 1.41 to work and now when i try to join a server i get about halfway through loading and my game just shuts off

I noticed that this same thing happend when the patch didnt work and i tryed to play the game after an unsucessful patching

ok, your specs look adequate to play at low resolutions and settings. Have you tried uninstalling bf2, downloading the patch again (only download from EA, not a third party site), reintalling bf2 and repatching?

i don't think that gfx performance is the issue here, but crashing upon loading a map... right sebaceous?

yeah i got the patch i got now from fileplanet but even when i downloaded it from ea it did it ill just to try to download it from EA again and see what happens thank you. and yes it did crash to desktop when i would load a map it would get somewhere between 50 - 60% and shut off


and i can run smoothly on medium lol

It might help by clearing your 'Cache' folders, you'll find them in:

My Documents/Battlefield2/LogoCache

My Documents/Battlefield2/mods/bf2/cache

Just delete the contents of these folders, not the actual folders themselves.
If this helps download a prog called Ccleaner and add the above files to its
'Options/include' section and it will clear them every time to run Ccleaner.
It's also good for registry fixes (only prog I've used for reg fixes that
hasn't f**ked me pc up yet!)

Also make sure you have the latest graphic card drivers installed and make
sure Directx is up to date too. Download 'dxwebsetup' from microsoft website.
Save it somewhere and run it, it will check for any updates and install them.

Also have no background tasks running e.g antivirus,msn etc.....

I see u have an AMD XP Athlon 3100+ running at 1.8ghz, I have a 3000+ and it runs at 2.1ghz as standard. You sure it's not a 3200+ ??
If so it should be at 2.2ghz minimum. Could be power supply problem if it is only at 1.8ghz.

I think min recommended for the game is 1.7ghz?

Also could be a case cooling problem? CPU running too hot or your card?

I'm no expert, but been having crashes while loading maps myself.

i believe the best way to clean this up is to do a clean reinstall of BF2 and then patch

im not sure i understand, you were playing before unpatched on medium & it was smooth? and then you went & got 1.41 & now it CTD's ?

could be a bad patch, like virus said i'd try that

yup im reinstalled right now im about to try the patch

the patch from ea just failed again

you mean the patch wouldn't install? or the mapp loads to 8% ??
