  • Newly installed game wont open

My new game wont open at all. The screen goes black flickers and returns to desktop or I get the following error message:

"mods/bf2/shaders/lightening.fx not found!!! _DO _ check your working directory_AND_sync your shaders folders before calling upon your local rendering programmer/GP. (really!)"

As for the 1.4 Patch. I got 2 error messages and the Patchlog file dislpays this message:

"Applying HISTORY File Patch for 'BF2VoipServer.dll'

    Updating ...
    Updating to next version ...
    error ept0038: Failure Renaming/Deleting File C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\RTA06050"

I even downloaded the Windows Vista fix file for several programs including BF 2 at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932246/en-us

I also right-clicked my desktop icons and set to Run as XP compatible.

I have uniinstalled and reinstalled het game a few times too.

    Please help!

Re: Newly installed game wont open

    welcome to forums.

first problem: try clearing your bf2 cache

second problem: current patch is 1.41, not 1.4

ensure you have the right one, post back if you're still up a creek.

There is no Mods/cache folder in my Battlefield 2 game folder. My Audio and video drivers are up to date too.

are you sure your computer/graphic card can take bf2?

Re: Newly installed game wont open

          My system Basics are below:

          Processor
          AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual-Core Processor 5000+; 2.6GHz

          Operating system
          Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium

          Memory
          2048MB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM

          Graphics card
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics supporting up to 256MB shared video memory

          Hard drive
          400GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive

          Primary CD/DVD drive
          SuperMulti DVD Writer with LightScribe

I was told by another BF2 player that since I never even played online yet, there's probably no cache folder.

graphics card is the most likely culprit. bf2 likes video memory. that is an integrated "card", correct?

Its your card... its not really supported...look at upgrading.
