  • Video games crack down on cheating - CNN.com

I found this article titled "Video games crack down on cheating" that was posted on CNN.com today in their technology section that I thought you guys might be interested in reading.

The article discuss the problems with video game cheating and what is being done to curtail it. I was going to post the entire article on the forums but noticed this little copyright warning that is posted below, so instead of inviting a lawsuit, I posted a link so you can go to their site and read it for yourself.

yeah I read about that on MSNBC. Intel may be developing a chip that will be embedded in the computer that will "record" keystrokes and mouse clicks so that you can't shoot 100 shots in just 1 mouse click. Sounds pretty neat

funny, though... i'm reading the one at msnbc and it's almost exactly the same as the one at CNN

Yes, i can see it be flamed by a lot of human privacy rights groups. To be honest, i believe they should use that money to invest in a company like Punkbuster.

too true, if there is a device in place which can record key strokes there will be some agency somewhere which would utilise it for something without us knowing about it...

If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear. I am all for whatever it takes to curtail these morons from cheating.

To be honest if it was up to me, cheaters and hackers would be taken out to a cold damp field somewhere and introduced to the business end of a 45 but something tells me the government would frown on that.

I can appreciate your privacy concerns, but at this stage of the game if it helps stop the hacking then my opinion is have at it. I will gladly accept the new technology if it will put most of these punks out of business.

If you think I am kidding about the cold damp field, if there was a job available that called for putting a slug in the back of a hackers head I would gladly take the position and I would not lose any sleep over but the last time I check the classified there was no such job available…what a shame.

Just what we need, hardware accelerated Punkbuster to crash in full 3D

What I want to see is cheats being forced completely out of user mode, meaning either kernel mode rubbish or full virtualisation, meaning any cheaters more or less donate their PCs to the cheat maker.

                          *edit*

I`ll have some hackers here and there (I`ve met like 1 or 2 over the course of my Pc gaming) rather than get my keystrokes and who knows what tracket and recorded.
But as gaming is serious business, fcuk privacy.
