There is no updates or new installs that i can recall, i really dont even know when it started

im guessing if it works after reboot that it has to be a driver , i mean which one i havent gota a clue, i'd try going back to the originoal drivers piece by piece and like say you go back to video drivers, try bf2 or any of them to see if it does it. if it dont then ya can say it was them , if it still does it, update back & then move to sound or maybe even your bios update.

other than that i wouldnt know what to do myself, maybe send the error to EA see what there tech man says, they will write back.

Do you have a friend who could loan you a different video card to test your system with? As I said, I had the same problem with my old Sapphire Radeon card and the problem was a dead card. That it works after rebooting does not necessarily rule out a hardware defect. I was able to reboot as well and even play the game for up to 15-20 mins before getting the same stop bluescreen.

well i just called the local computer shop and they seem to think that my Graphics card has kicked the bucket (died) even though i got it only a year ago.

i bought one new, installed it, ran good for 10mins then started to smoke, i though *oh shat , my computer gonna be ruined* but it was just a falty card, got a replacement , worked fine ever since. those new ones will break too.:nod:

Yepp, but when i talked to them & told them what happen they said that they had 3 other cards do same exact thing, so they didn't try to hassel me over replacing it, they offered my money back or another card & offer that if it did same thing they would refund it too, so i just took the card & i got good a one, ati radeon to beat it all.

New video cards blowing up after 10 minutes is not uncommon :) Happened to me once as well. Usually a faulty capacitor. Common cause of death among motherboards, too.

I donno about you but scared the crap outta me, i though *oh no my MB is gonna melt, my computer is toast* and all i could imagine is tryn to get them to replace it short of payin a lawyer 10,000 dollars just to file, so i in a few milliseconds was tryn to figure out where i was gonna get money to get new pewter.

Didn't mean to scare ya :) If they had several cards that went bad, maybe they all had a bad batch of capacitors.

I still remember like 5 years ago there was this big scandal with bootleg capacitor electrolyte that caused the death of many motherboards and electronic components. There was even a class action lawsuit against Abit. The funnest thing is when one of the large capacitors in your PSU blows. What a bang :)

When buying video cards or motherboards for a system that is expected to run fairly hot, i.e. gaming computer, it might be a wise choice to pay a little more and buy components with solid capacitors.

no, i meant when mine when up in smoke it scared me,
well i thought ati would be a card to have faith in, but im not very savvy on hardware, maybe layman at best with it. i never had a gforce, i might try that on next upgrade.

I really don't know what video card manufacturers I like. Whether it is ATI(AMD) or nVidia probably does not matter. I always used to buy ATI cards made by ATI. I was very happy with those, but they have become rare and expensive. Most ATI cards are now made by third party manufacturers, just like all nVidia cards. I definitely recommend against Sapphire. That was the one that died on me and several people I know. Their customer service was horrible, too, so I just decided to let it go and buy a new one. I heard XFX is pretty good for nVidia cards, but I don't have personal experience with those. I am thinking about upgrading my computer (currently an ATI/ATI Radeon X700) but not sure which one to get. Probably a Radeon X1950, but not sure which manufacturer.

LOL, odd, mine i was talking about is sapphire, they musta had bunch of bad cards, once this one is dead im not buying another, it works great, had it over a year i think.

LMAO. Gets to show you how bad Sapphire cards are. I'd really like to know what their failure rates are. But you get what you pay for. The Sapphire cards tend to be among the cheapest out there. When I bought mine years ago, I bought a Sapphire Radeon 9600pro for the price of a 9250. Seems like over the years, their quality has not improved. I would not buy a Sapphire even if it was free after mail-in rebate!
