I have the not polulated, different version servers, and the small maps ones filtrated, so I get around 450-500 servers. Considering that half of them are Karkand and half of the remaining half are servers with proven abusive admins, stat padding clans and stupid custom rules, I'm down to around 100 servers that are playable, so that's right, BF2 is not dead yet. And for the record, punk is not dead neither!

First, that's a ******** statistic. Second, where were these servers proven to be abusive? A one-sided complaint on a public forum w/ no response from the server != proven abuse.

BF2 isn't anywhere near dead. I see 1800 ranked servers w/ FF on, no password running the current version worldwide. About 330 of these are currently populated. BF2 will be around for a long time to come.

Pretty much. BF2 is my favorite online multiplayer game of all-time - period - but if Call of Duty 4's multiplayer is good enough I'll be moving to that until BF3 comes out, as long as it's as good as BF2 (i.e. no more robot wars, 2142 ftl).

Playable Servers

Proven from my perspective, which means that I've experienced their rules/admins/clans/point whoring behaviors/stat padding or whatever the case may be servers, and I wouldn't go there again. For myself personally there are about 100 fair playable servers left.

Most people are only play one server at a time. With your 100 playable servers, think of it as cable TV where you are able to enjoy each one of them.

lol, can't wait for CoD4 and Crysis... half of the BF2 population switched to BF2142 or other games. Another half will be gone once those two big games come out in 2 months...

COD4 looks like it could be the BF2 killer. However, a lot people still do not have enough computer power to run BF2 smoothly, so they may not yet make the jump to COD4 because I'm sure the specs required to run that game are even higher than for BF2.

671 BF 1942 servers running with over 1000 people playing. BF2 is far from dead. Especially while there are even more playing mods, and mods that haven´t even been released yet!

Look at that sales list, Battlefield 2 coming in the top 10 compared to many new games.

Sure does... the modern setting is the BEST! Just hope they have 64-player servers + stats tracking...
